Grassley jumps ship

Says Biden must get the Security briefs

Add link
https://edition.cnn.com/2020/11/12/politics/republican-senators-biden-classified-briefings/index.html

Two top GOP senators told CNN on Thursday that Joe Biden should have access to classified briefings, the latest indication that Republicans acknowledge the President-elect is likely on his way to the White House despite President Donald Trump's refusal to accept the results.

"I would think -- especially on classified briefings -- answer is yes," said Sen. Chuck Grassley of Iowa, who as president pro tempore is the most senior Republican in the chamber.
Senate Majority Whip John Thune of South Dakota also told CNN that Biden should have access to classified briefings.
"Well, I think that it probably makes sense to prepare for all contingencies," Thune said when asked if Biden should get briefings. "And as these election challenges play out in court, I don't have a problem with, and I think it's important from a national security standpoint, continuity. And you've seen other members suggesting that. I think that makes sense."

I guess going into your mid to late 80's (and now into your 90's with Feinstein, Inhofe, perhaps Grassley, and probably Shelby, and almost Pat Roberts, but he is retiring, or he would have made it too) is now the norm for many, if not the majority in the Senate when they hit these very advanced ages.

Before this, there were only 4 Senators ever in US history who served in their 90's : Theodore F. Green, Carl Hayden, Robert Byrd, and Strom Thurmond (100yo and a senile lump of shit long before that) Only Hayden was still fully healthy and actually completely sound at the end.

Only one House Rep has ever, in US history, served into their 90's, Ralph Hall. Don Young, if he runs and wins again in 2022, would be the 2nd. Eddie Bernice Johnson would have to run in 2022 and 2024 and then she would be the third.

contact form. Unlike congresspersons, anyone can write to a senator.

Please, anyone who has the time or interest, please write to Senator Grassley and ask him to contact Emily Murphy at GSA to get this process rolling!

Thank you for posting this. I missed it.

Grassley Questions DOJ on Biden Family FARA Compliance

Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) is calling on the Justice Department to evaluate whether Hunter and James Biden should have registered as foreign agents for their business arrangements with the Chinese government-back energy company CEFC. The company was actively seeking to build influence in the United States when it partnered with the Bidens.

The Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) is a content-neutral law that promotes transparency by requiring individuals to register with the Justice Department if they are acting as an agent of a foreign government or enterprise to influence U.S. policy or public opinion. In a letter to Attorney General William Barr, Grassley is seeking details on what steps, if any, the Justice Department has taken to determine whether the Bidens complied with FARA.

The CEOs and boards of huge multinational corporations are not going to sit by and watch Trump tank the markets. So far, the markets are fine, but they won't be if Trump's ego causes an actual constitutional crisis. That would be bad for business.

They like the tax breaks and deregulation. They'll wring every penny out of Donny. But when he's done, he's done.

This is perhaps a half-step better than some other Republican figures (at this particular instant in time) -- but still manages to fall well short of anything resembling patriotism. I think we need to hold off on the part where we start handing out medals.

Does Trump even read them? I heard he just tosses them aside. When Obama wanted to include Trump after being pres elect in 2015, didn't Trump just snub him? Trump doesn't give any credence to our intelligence community anyway so probably doesn't think it's important.
