I always assumed that Trumpers were pawns being duped by Fox,

putty in its hands, and that if Fox ever turned on Trump, they would follow suit in short order.

Not so. Now that Fox has shown signs of cooling on Trump, a story on CNN's front web page says that Trumpers have been turning on Fox, switching instead to the more radical right-wing channel Newsmax in recent weeks, which is putting out the theory that Trump actually won the election.

To quote from the article:

Taking a big picture view, Newsmax's sudden gains are about demand meeting supply. There is a demand for content that swears Biden is not president-elect; that Trump is not a loser; that Trump might even win a second term. Al Schmidt, the Republican city commissioner of Philadelphia, touched on the demand side when he told CNN's John Berman: "One thing I can't comprehend is how hungry people are to consume lies and to consume information that is not true."
Think of Newsmax as the supply side. Kelly told his viewers that Trump's America has an "uphill fight on our hands" but he projected optimism as he touted the president and bashed the media. Jay Rosen tweeted on Wednesday: "What we talk about when we talk about disinformation is normally the supply, and how to limit it. Not the demand, and what to make of it."

Scary stuff indeed. And there's Sean Spicer, right in the middle of it.

What they are calling "news" is largely biased propaganda and reminds one of Pravda in the past and RT in modern times.

The thing is, if people understood what propaganda really is, then it would be much easier to point out the problems with it and illustrate how manipulation is the real product.

People are social animals looking for their tribe or herd. Always in search of inner security. Many of us learned this basic ideal from Public Education back in the day,it was called Social Studies. Oh btw, morals and norms was even discussed in Civics. It is called the "Stockholm Syndrome",Hitler and his Propagandist's practiced this to the hilt.

Freud saw this a useful trait among prehistoric bands and small tribes living in harsh environments but it is incompatible with more complex societies where leadership needs to be shared for the society to function. So we know this goes back to prehistoric times and we can stand in awe at our founding documents which sought to transcend such impulses but the question remains how to get rid of it when it arises again, like it did in the past two world wars.

Fox was one of the largest purveyors of disinformation since its beginnings in the 90's. Did they think that their fans were loyal because they are so good at giving out information? It is stupid to think that you can hit the brakes after more than 25 years of lying. People who watch Fox, do not watch it for the journalism. They watch because Fox tells/told them that it was okay to blame immigrants, that the Clinton's were monsters, that Obama was Kenyan and a Muslim, and that "Liberal media" was at once weak and corrupt, yet all powerful and pervasive. Fox may be trying to back away from the "truly crazy" but it is too late for that. They helped to create an ill informed, fanatical base of viewers who want to be told that the irrational fears they have are valid. They will be losing viewers to networks that have EVEN LESS integrity than they do.

Fox deserves any demise and destruction that comes its way. I am more concerned right now about how to stop this runaway train of misinformation.

.... With a short statement.

Trump is a proven racist, misogynist, homophobe, traitor, and crook. His cult supports him for a simple reason. He reflects their own values. For his hardcore following there is no redemption.
