commercial space program grow. I’d think we need to tighten things up again at NASA or perhaps the space Force is needed to do NASA’s work. I’m not really a space person. I’ve never had a desire to travel to space even if it became a thing. I always thought it was a waste of money until someone explained the benefits like internet and other things.

NASA is science, the Space Force is the military being used to militarize space. Not a good idea, imo.

There is a need for a federal agency to spearhead the monitoring, collection and clean-up of space junk that threatens our way of life due to the risk it poses to weather satellites, communications/internet satellites, GPS/navigation satellites, spy satellites, etc. Space junk could be considered a national security risk that needs government management. This should be its mission statement of Space Force for the next half century instead of it serving as the imaginary Republican space military.

Like it or not, space is now a military theater of operation.

The Space Force is mainly a realignment of currently existing organizations into a more coherent command structure to enable more efficient and flexible responses to adversary threats.

Going back to the Moon and eventually onto Mars are big ticket, inspirational "American Can Do It" stuff that we actually can do.

It's a practical smack in the face to all the anti-science bullshit that's dead-set on hobbling us in service to their fantasies.

..as part of the US Air Force. (Aspects of it existed before that.) It was just split into a separate branch in 2019. And they got their own uniforms, to make Child Trump happy.

Of course they'll keep it, but I don't think the question of whether or not to return the command to the AF is a priority item at this point in time.
