Present standings:Biden (DEM) = 2,472,083 or 49.52%
Trump (REP) = 2,457,920 or 49.24%
Jorgensen (LIB) = 62,059 or 1.24%
Biden leads Trump by 14,163, which is only 23% of the votes that Jorgensen got.
If Jorgensen hadn't been on the ballot then a portion of her voters would have voted for Trump, a portion would have voted for Biden, and a portion would not have voted for either. How do you think it would have turned out?
Note: I'm not asking if it matters or not.

(2,014 posts)The US is the only democratic...ish... society where in modern times only, two parties got so powerful they basically knocked others out of contention. Lots of candidates from lots of parties is the norm. Having -D and -R as our main parties doesnt mean other parties should give up, or theyre being paid, or whatever.

(2,014 posts)Rethugs have paid for fake Dem candidates, Dems have supported 3rd party candidates that siphon votes from a Rethug, etc. Every party plays tricks to some extent, at some time. Its ridiculous to assume that non-D, non-R candidates are just out there being paid for to interfere with the elections that are somehow, magically only to be between the two most popular parties. THE two party system is a toxic myth we tell ourselves, and we have to cut the BS.
