EVERY number in that 325,000 is a person. A living, loving, caring human being with a family full of loved ones, all shapes, sizes, colors, nationalities, ages - the youngest I heard of this week was a five-year-old.

This just FUCKING HURTS! And I don't even know any of these people. It doesn't matter. They're fellow travelers, all bozos on this bus called Planet Earth. And they have feelings and cares and worries and loves, and people who care about them. They laugh and they cry. And now they're the object of tears - gone. Lost forever down a dark hole called COVID. Leaving a trail of aching hearts and lit votive candles. And the holidays are coming. I bet there were a few of these COVID victims for whom a special Christmas gift had already been purchased or ordered, or made by hand.

And it didn't have to end this way. They didn't have to die.

Damn.

I remember when medical personnel were forcibly quarantined during the Ebola outbreak. Kaci Hickox a nurse who had treated patients in West Africa was subjected to widespread vilification and ridicule when she complained over how she was treated. I'm going out on a limb here but I bet the people that were in favor of her imprisonment are the same people that can't be bothered to take safety precautions in this pandemic. Masks and social distancing are tyranny and a violation of their rights.

I should've known. Of course there were probably others too. I remember the doctors and scientists at the time were saying that rw politicians and rw media were spreading misinformation. President Obama invited a nurse who was exposed to it to the White House and even hugged her to people there was nothing to fear. People listened to them then about as well as they're listening to them now, meaning not at all. Funny how all the fear mongering immediatly stopped once they got what they wanted. It wouldn't surprise me if they tried it again with Covid only this time it didn't work. The media does need to look into it but I'm not holding my breath.

every day in oct about it in right wing rag WND

who was pushing the social media in congo 2019 to get locals to attack ebola clinics? but they got that under control

Ian Reifowitz posted a diary Feb 29 — Weaponizing an epidemic for political purposes is exactly what Limbaugh did to Obama detailing how Limbaugh and the Republicans used ebola to help them regain the house and senate in 2014. Democrats lost 13 House seats and nine Senate seats. They used fear of ebola in October to win in November and then forgot about ebola after their election successes. It was a manufactured crisis, it worked, and why wouldn’t they use it again?

I agree that Democrats suck at messaging. But I think they suck at communicating their accomplishments and how their policies are best for the country, not necessarily talking about the other side. It's not like they aren't aware that he's a con artist, liar, cheat, racist, etc. Some don't care and the rest like that he's that way. I'm convinced that no amount of smearing would have mattered. These people love Trump and are willing to die for him. They hate other people more than they love themselves. What do you do with that?

after Bush ignored the warnings. He wasn't asked to resign, got re-elected, took us to war with Iraq based on a false premise, and got away with it. Reagan ignored the AIDS crisis and 89,343 people died under his watch. It barely gets mentioned as far as his legacy goes. Republicans are immune to scrutiny and accountability. It only matters if you’re a Democrat.

We turned red states blue. See Arizona and Georgia. Huge. Absolutely huge.

Texas is turning purple. We won the Presidency with more than 5 million popular votes and you are basically saying we f**led.

I do see it as a landslide. Two new blue states is a beautiful thing as is the Presidency.
