1. Dropped off the ballots on September 30th

3. We waited about 10 minutes in line

They have to do some verification signatures for the outside of the envelope and it was a very nice day so not a problem at all as we were all outside at a tent set up on the sidewalk near the entrance to the office.

4. This was our first time voting absentee.

Being old, we are now permanently on the list for automatic mailing of absentee ballots. I have always enjoyed voting in person, but I doubt that I will do it again even if Covid is not an issue.

Going forward, we'll be using mail-in or drop-off ballots. At my age, that's something that appeals to me as well.

26. I vote absentee in all elections

except the local school budget elections. Like most people, I have to work on Tuesdays. I don't want to be wasting my time standing in lines if I don't have to. I've heard some states make it difficult to vote absentee. It is easy in Maine. Just request the absentee ballot online. Maine does not require any reason why. That's your own business.

but I will miss doing so in person. I tend to get emotional when voting; I cried while voting for Stacey Abrams for Gov. It's probably silly, but I was really feeling that my vote truly mattered.

No excuses needed or doctor's note needed... but my big hope is that the states get their acts together and agree on how many (and the placement of) secure and monitored drop-boxes. ALSO, they need to agree on allowing the election workers time to count ballots AS THEY ARRIVE (or at least a week prior to election day).

15. That was the problem in PA

The law was always that absentee ballots were processed and counted on Election Day. Since previously there weren’t that many (you needed a reason) it was never a problem. Gov Wolf tried to change this. The Repug legislature offered him a deal - we’ll allow vote processing to start before Election Day IF you remove the secured drop boxes and make voters depend on the USPS. This was when it was becoming clear that Trump was having the mail slowed down. Gov Wolf said no deal, the drop boxes stayed but so did the ridiculous processing timeline. As long as Repugs control the state legislature I don’t see this changing anytime soon. Until more timely processing benefits them, of course.

After living in the same town for 25 years, I was bumped off the voter rolls in 2016. Whatever the circumstances may be this year or going forward, I will be there in-person to see the ballot slide into the reader.

... with no errors, no under-votes, no over-votes.

Our state's readers will immediately check for errors (ie: over-votes, or under-votes) as soon as the ballot is inserted. The voter will have the option to have their ballot ejected OUT of the machine for corrections/additions, or the voter can choose to ignore the alerts and confirm that they don't want to make changes.

Obviously, that's an option that's not available when mailing or dropping-off ballots.

So many people knew each other, and we spent the majority of the time chatting with other voters (AND THE CANDIDATES who showed up.) The weather was delightful too. Crisp, but not cold... not windy... a nice sunny day.

but this time I decided to use the dropbox at city hall because of the reports of mail delays (which we didn't have around here - I got my ballot the evening of the day it was sent out!). California lets you sign up for automatic ballot tracking, so I knew when it was mailed to me, when it was picked up from the drop box, and when it was accepted as valid; my county has been doing this for several election cycles, but they tend to lag a bit in posting results. I like voting by mail in a state that makes it easy and accessible.

NYC hasn't been doing early voting that long.

I was concerned that my signature wouldn't match sendng it by mail, so I went early in person at a totally different place out of my neighborhood and in a church. Good weather, think goodness! Hardly any one on line which I had prepared for with a yarn project. Happy it was all distanced, and everyone was masked.

Live in rural California and there has not been a local polling station (vote by mail only) since the 2008 election.

Used to like to go to vote. Never had much of a wait anywhere I voted, maybe 10 minutes at the most. First voted in 1972 and have not missed an election. Have voted in Humboldt, Alameda, Trinity, and Shasta counties in CA and Benton and Multnomah counties in OR and don't recall ever waiting more than 10 minutes on voting day ever or having to drive (or walk) more than 10 minutes to get to a polling station.

The impediments to voting now were not something to cross one's imagination most of my life.
