A nurse in a strained El Paso hospital says the sickest COVID-19 patients are put in a doctor-less

room called 'the pit' where they are given 3 chances to be revived before workers let them die

A travel nurse has described the "horrific" scene at one hospital in El Paso, Texas, a city that has emerged as a new hotspot as the weathers its third and likely deadliest wave of the coronavirus.

In a nearly hourlong Facebook Live video published last Saturday, Lawanna Rivers said that she had served five postings at various hospitals during the COVID-19 pandemic, but her time at the University Medical Center of El Paso was by far the worst.

"Out of all the COVID assignments I've been on, this one here has really left me emotionally scarred," she said. "The facility I'm at has surpassed the one I was at in New York." New York was the epicenter of the US outbreak in the spring.

Rivers was most upset about how the sickest patients at the hospital were treated. She said they were all put into an area called a "pit," where they are essentially left to die.

1. Sounds like Triage, which is a war-zone strategy, & comes into play when medics are so overwhelmed

...with casualties that basically everyone will die unless they prioritize.

There are people who are going to die no matter what — those people, regrettably, will suck up all the care others need and still die. There are those, often called “walking wounded,” who can wait for care. Then there are those in the middle who need care right now, immediately, and if they don’t get it will probably die, and if they do will likely live. That middle group is where emergency sources have to go first.

This is horrific, Nurse Rivers, but we knew we would get to this place — just like Italy at the beginning, where untold numbers of people died on gurneys in hospital corridors.

We are at war with a virus, and our so-called commander in chief is AWOL. I will await further info before passing judgement on El Paso.

3. It is triage, Hekate. You are correct.

El Paso is not the first place to see it and won't be the last. Hence the refrigerator trucks, ordered then ordered again and mass graves in NY and around the world. Frankly, I am shocked that she is shocked. We have been warned over and over.

As I said above, I’ll wait for further info before passing judgment on one hospital.

“And so that’s a very tricky one. That’s a very delicate one. It’s also more deadly than even your strenuous flus.”

If the unstable Moron used his time as President, we’d have been ready for this wave. It, too, was predicted by the physicians and scientists.

And so did the assholes in the WH who are willfully allowing such dire circumstance... And it makes some of them salivate. To the big cheese, it's all about how we don't love him enough so we all have to suffer for that.

For context - El Paso is 10 hours away from College Station. This is the equivalent of sending patients from Connecticut to North Carolina for a hospital bed.

That is how bad things have gotten in El Paso
