(4,112 posts)I'd be happy with any number of Joe's great options for this role, though. There's a very deep bench.

(47,397 posts)would be great, but I want to keep him in congress. He could be the next Speaker of the House. He is such a powerful voice in congress and there is still so much work yet to be done.
I just want a dilgent bulldog!

(47,397 posts)And at least we have plenty of really good ones to choose from. Actually I think there are plenty who have been waiting to sink their claws into this corrupt monster. I may need to stock up on popcorn!

(16,616 posts)Although someone here at DU made a good case for Neal Katyal. I thought that was a great idea.
Does anybody else like the idea of Neal Katyal?
Katyal has argued more Supreme Court cases than any other minority lawyer in American history.[5] He is a self-described "extremist centrist".[6]

(152 posts)We need a strong and aggressive AG that will independently go after Trump, the Trump Spawn, and the Trump minions.

(473 posts)Of what we hear about the Southern District of New York direction after Trump is accurate, why not have state AND federal support to finish him, his family and minions off?

(152 posts)If Cuomo is AG, he will supervise the US Attorney for the SDNY. At the state level, NYAG Letisha James already has said she intends to go after Trump and the Trump Org. Cyrus Vance is the Manhattan DA, and he also is investigating Trump.
RealityCheque
(473 posts)Yes. With Gov. Cuomo overseeing the SDNY... 😊 Prete Bahara was also part of the SDNY in his career.

(47,397 posts)I hadn't thought of Cuomo! Wouldn't that be incredible? He would be great as AG and he would undoubtedly take great pleasure in going after Trump and his accomplices.

(11,631 posts)Would love to get him at federal level but why would he leave New York? Seems a lot less certain long term unless he has presidential aspirations.
L.Pharmstrong
(152 posts)But that means nothing. He has ambitions to be President and needs to garner national support.

(17,425 posts)Neal Katyal, Adam Schiff in that order of preference. I don't know enough about Doug Jones to form an opinion. Adam Schiff is only listed last because I would like to see him remain in Congress.

(15,381 posts)We may or may not need one or two, depending on both GA Senate races. Bharara and Doug Jones would get some Republican votes.

(2,574 posts)Senate. The Senate will not vote to confirm President Biden's nominees, choosing instead to further destroy the country in the same manner they are presently helping destroy the country by supporting Trump's continuing attempt to overthrow our democracy and the US Government.
So President Biden will first have to immediately fire all of Trump's criminal appointees, which President Biden has sole and full executive power to do, without any Senate interference.
The President can then immediately fill his administration with the acting officials of his choice, and the Senate can't do a damn thing about it.
Polybius
(15,381 posts)I can almost guarantee he won't pick him in the first place.

(3,282 posts)He cam up in the Justice Department, and in private practice. He has been an AUSA and served as a deputy assistant AG during the Clinton Admin. He would be a terrific AG AND give Biden a chance to appoint a much younger judge to DC.

(50,553 posts)Three names I've heard repeatedly are Preet Bharara, Sally Yates and Adam Schiff. The first two were fired by Trump and Schiff was one of his impeachment managers. Of the three, Bharara seems to have the most experience in convicting white-collar criminals and organized crime figures. Since Trump is both, Bharara would be the best choice.
