I'd be happy with any number of Joe's great options for this role, though. There's a very deep bench.

Although someone here at DU made a good case for Neal Katyal. I thought that was a great idea.

Does anybody else like the idea of Neal Katyal?

Neal Kumar Katyal (born March 12, 1970) is an American lawyer and academic. He is a partner at Hogan Lovells and the Paul and Patricia Saunders Professor of National Security Law at Georgetown University Law Center.[2][3] During the Obama Administration, Katyal served as Acting Solicitor General of the United States from May 2010[4] until June 2011. Previously, Katyal served as an attorney in the Solicitor General's office, and as Principal Deputy Solicitor General in the U.S. Justice Department.

Katyal has argued more Supreme Court cases than any other minority lawyer in American history.[5] He is a self-described "extremist centrist".[6]

Of what we hear about the Southern District of New York direction after Trump is accurate, why not have state AND federal support to finish him, his family and minions off?

If Cuomo is AG, he will supervise the US Attorney for the SDNY. At the state level, NYAG Letisha James already has said she intends to go after Trump and the Trump Org. Cyrus Vance is the Manhattan DA, and he also is investigating Trump.

Senate. The Senate will not vote to confirm President Biden's nominees, choosing instead to further destroy the country in the same manner they are presently helping destroy the country by supporting Trump's continuing attempt to overthrow our democracy and the US Government.

So President Biden will first have to immediately fire all of Trump's criminal appointees, which President Biden has sole and full executive power to do, without any Senate interference.

The President can then immediately fill his administration with the acting officials of his choice, and the Senate can't do a damn thing about it.

He cam up in the Justice Department, and in private practice. He has been an AUSA and served as a deputy assistant AG during the Clinton Admin. He would be a terrific AG AND give Biden a chance to appoint a much younger judge to DC.

Three names I've heard repeatedly are Preet Bharara, Sally Yates and Adam Schiff. The first two were fired by Trump and Schiff was one of his impeachment managers. Of the three, Bharara seems to have the most experience in convicting white-collar criminals and organized crime figures. Since Trump is both, Bharara would be the best choice.
