Defeated, in legal peril

JUAN WILLIAMS, OPINION CONTRIBUTOR — 11/16/20 06:00 AM EST

... No president has ever gone to jail. But Trump is pushing his luck.

Personally, I'd like to see him live out his days in a former baby jail, eating moldy bread and drinking toilet water, and sleeping on concrete.

Maybe one of his maga fans could donate a Trump boat parade vessel large enough for him and the family. No social media privileges. Just a lifetime cruise in international waters.

Trump will still have access to Twitter and Facebook. And he wants to establish his own Internet-based media company. He can broadcast his lies and sow discord from anywhere.

My hope is that he gets convicted of crimes in New York. The only way to lessen his ongoing campaigns against democracy is to put him in jail.

Sorry I just have a suspicious nature. Even though Trump will get his blanket Federal Pardon he loses 5th Amendment protection. When your whole Business model is crooked you have to be able to keep your dates straight. As crooks go Donald Trump is not that bright and will still go not only bankrupt but destitute.

Regardless he should be charged, but I can't help but wonder about the odds a jury convicts him. For instance, it's bad enough juries are reluctant to vote to convict police officers. Voting to convict a president, even if it's Trump, may be harder.

... an explicit license to kill, which makes it very hard to prosecute them for a homicide on the job. The get out of jail card for them is: "I thought I saw a weapon/he was grabbing for my gun/I felt my life was threatened" and repeating it over and over and over.
