Check out this protest in Germany over COVID restrictions. They had to bring out the water cannons.

Police used water cannons to disperse thousands of people who were protesting against Germany's COVID-19 measures in Berlin, as parliament discussed further restrictions. https://abcn.ws/32Vvm1U

We're not the only democracy full of lunatics.

some people embrace Fatalism; they know that Death finds us all, and the increase in the rate of deaths due to Covid is acceptable.

There is no fix for this.

This country and its people didn't fall to the Nazis for no good reason. That element still exists there -- it's just (in the words of Elmer Fudd) "vewy, vewy qwiet." Except for now.

Germany’s not special in that regard. But they’ve done a lot to reckon with their Nazi past.

the Trumpers will be out in the streets just like this. Of course they're basically authoritarian followers.

Germany and any other country doesn't deserve this nonsense, much of it which is fueled by bullshit lies coming from Trump.

I don't see anybody getting past the water cannons and police vans. Maybe they succeeded in turning people around and getting them to leave. One can always hope that's the case.

Can anybody hear a marching band in that crowd? Maybe my ears are deceiving me, but it sounds like a fife and drum corps in the background.

A large, suddenly out-of-work young population who can drink legally at a young age (16), and takes every advantage of it. Close the bars for a day, and you invite unrest. Close them for a week, and you invite civil war.

but a lot of them definitely have no use for masks and social distancing if it gets in the way of partying. The bars are closed in Charlotte so young people have been congregating at restaurants with bars and the restaurants aren’t abiding by the capacity limits.

There have also been a lot of huge parties with hundreds of people at universities.

I'm really interested in what it says about anti-maskers, resisters, etc. My assumption as this all began was that with all of our advances in science, medicine and communication that we wouldn't make those particular mistakes again. Even as it became obvious that the Trump Administration response would be criminally incompetent. We as individuals still had the power to mitigate that by doing something very easy and inexpensive--staying home as much as possible and wearing masks when going somewhere. But there are apparently many millions of people that won't. Won't do it, don't care what happens to themselves or anyone else, just won't. It's incomprehensible.
