We (I say "we" because I'm in the same demographic) are now a small rivulet, running into perhaps larger streams, but eventually ending up in the rush of the great river.

We used to be the river. For better, or (often) for worse, we guided things. Quite badly, at times.

Now, I'm not bemoaning a perceived loss of agency. Quite the opposite. I'm very happy to be part of a stronger, more diverse throng instead of having the whole weight foisted onto me and "my peeps."
