The bad news:
After the inauguration, I would not expect President Biden to start a chorus of "LOCK HIM UP! LOCK HIM UP!" while calling for sweeping investigations into trump's tenure as president, at least not during that all-important 1OO day window.
Simply put, trump fucked the Corona virus, the economy, AND democracy up so bad that President Biden and Vice President Harris will have their hands full and they're smart enough to know that they have to try to somehow unite the country so we can actually find a way out of this nightmare, and that includes the possibility of a hostile Senate.
Face it: trump and company took a great big Covid19 crap right on top of the Resolute Desk, and the Oval's gonna have to be fumagated first.
The good news:
1. But I wouldn't expect a pardon either. Unlike his predecessor, Biden will maintain an independent justice department. Who knows what an actual independent justice department might reveal? And if there's strong evidence of corruption on trump's part, why would a president who believes in an independent justice department block it? It might suddenly become politically expedient to investigate, especially if the crimes are so serious that the Senate can no longer deny the evidence.
2. I could be wrong, but won't Biden have access to all of donald's shenanigans regarding Ukraine and the Hunter "investigation?" Unredacted Mueller Report, anyone?
3. Let's not forget: nothing can save trump or his family from the SDNY. After all, midnight is about to strike at the prince's castle. And then it's Pumpkin time.

I believe that you are right about the new DOJ. Biden will let the new AG loose to pull any loose threads that they find.
But I'm also guessing that the current "administration" will be busy burning and shredding documents. Fortunately, anything that is online NEVER really disappears.
