11-18-20 Another update on the poor "page back" function I have experienced on DU...

see https://www.democraticunderground.com/100214558501 for the most previous update.

So now what I've found is that if I used the "GO" button on the DU page it doesn't help at
all. BUT if I use the "Refresh Page" button in my browser's (Firefox) address bar the
"page back" function as I browse through various posts is pleasantly normal. This may be as
good as it gets and that's fine with me!

Thank you all for your patience with me. It's been a big deal to me.

I typically, but not always, read DU on a mobile device or tablet. When I hit the back function, the response time is so long I often hit it twice thinking I must have “missed” or something. It’s the same but slightly better on a computer. This has been going on now for maybe 6 months or more? And it’s not my network. When I go to other sites in the same browsing session, the slow back-button response disappears. It’s very annoying, but you sort of made my day by letting me know it’s not just me either.

See: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-clear-firefox-cache

When mine tops out (at 1.0 gb), pages get slow to load and videos get slower. I typically clear mine two or three times on a busy day.

Also, in your Tools/Options/Privacy & Security page, I believe "History" must be set for "Remember History" in order to use the "Back" button.

my cache hits around 500 meg I clear it. For me that's around every 3 days. I clear my son's
cache every day since he does get to 1gig every 24 hours. I do use the recommended
history settings.

My first clue way back when was that if I were in the DU My Posts or Lounge pages I
never had any trouble.

Thanks for your input.
