Smart Move, GOP

The Republicans continue to support Trump’s lies and mindless ramblings about a ‘stolen election’ – stolen by the corrupt Democrats counting ‘illegal’ ballots, installing computer systems that change votes, and via a ‘vast international conspiracy’ that wields power beyond all imagination.

In supporting the notion that those evil libruls have the ability to manipulate election results – to the point where Trump’s alleged landslide win was easily turned into a landslide Biden win – they are telling anyone who is listening that our elections cannot be trusted.

The problem here should be obvious. The only people who are listening to Republican politicians right now are Republican voters, many of whom are Trump supporters who need to believe that the only way their Dear Leader could possibly have lost this election is due to a massive effort to steal it from him by manipulating the vote counts of millions of people across the board.

What is truly stunning about the GOP’s short-sightedness (okay, their abject stupidity) is the fact that two run-off elections scheduled for early January will determine control of the Senate – and telling their own supporters that their votes can easily be flipped, ignored, thrown out, dumped in garbage bins – and all of the other means the Democrats used to steal a presidential election.

So you have to wonder how many Republicans won’t bother to vote in those January run-offs, simply because they’ve been convinced – by their own party – that their votes for the GOP candidates won’t count anyway, thanks to the same nefarious machinations the Democrats employed to fraudulently elect Joe Biden.

Maybe it’s just me, but I don’t see Republican voters in Georgia rushing out to cast their ballots after being told – repeatedly, and in no uncertain terms – that their votes don’t matter, because the fix is already in.

I also don’t see any ‘alternative facts’ that the GOP can offer to undo the damage they’re doing to their own ‘base’. How do you convince Republican voters to vote for any GOP candidate in future – after you’ve been so vociferous about how Democrats obviously have the means to “steal” elections, and therefore your vote is meaningless.

‘Tis a puzzlement.

Then there's his non-college educated demographic that tend to be more gullible.

Trump "loves the poorly educated" (actual quote).

As Mayor Pete used to say, we need to get out enough vote to win "beyond cheating distance." That same argument could work here to appeal to the other side as well.

discover they can't count on our elections being stolen for them. And neither is too strong a word at all as they see it as more proof that the greatness that was America, and for some the world, is at an end.

Then there are the rest who voted for Trump. They're not crazy, but they're all worked up too and really do believe they need Republican control of the senate more than ever. It's going to be all about turnout, of course.

To the phones!

This is probably too complex a thought for the average Republican voter but why, if the Dems could rig the Presidential election, wouldn't they have also rigged every competitive Senatorial election as well? If Thom Tillis, Joni Ernst and Susan Collins had lost, the outcome of the races in Georgia would be moot. (Yeah, I know. Most Repubs wouldn't know what "moot" means.)
