Cancel that meeting

11/19/2020 08:30 PM EST
By RICHARD PRIMUS
... constitutional law professor at the University of Michigan ...

... it threatens the two Michigan legislators, personally, with the risk of criminal investigation ...

... Why, exactly, does Trump want to see these two men in person, in his office? It isn’t to offer evidence that Michigan’s election was tainted and should therefore be nullified. If he had any such evidence, his lawyers would have presented it in court, rather than abandoning their Michigan lawsuit ...

... The danger for Shirkey and Chatfield, then, is that they are being visibly invited to a meeting where the likely agenda involves the felony of attempting to bribe a public official ...

... the president can’t stop a state prosecution, and he can’t pardon a state crime. Nor would the president’s conversations with Shirkey and Chatfield be shielded from investigation by any sort of executive privilege ...

... one thing that people who try to stay clean know is that it’s unwise to put yourself in a situation where it will look like you’ve broken the law — or, worse yet, where you might be induced to do so ...

1. Here's his game plan

Nolan Finley
The Detroit News

... No matter how hard Trump twists their arms, the opening for the Legislature they lead to meddle with the Electoral College is very narrow, and possibly non-existent. Michigan law demands the electors cast their votes for the certified winner of the statewide popular vote ...

The president hopes to create enough chaos ... to convince states like Michigan, where it is vigorously contesting the results, not to certify the election ...

The Board of Canvassers has a constitutional duty to certify the election ...

If the state board .. doesn't fulfill that duty .. interested parties will make a beeline to the state Court of Appeals in request of writ ordering the canvassers to certify ...

(That happened in 2013 when the Wayne County Board of Canvassers refused to certify Mike Duggan's write-in votes for Detroit mayor.)

There's no conceivable scenario in which that order won't be granted by the court, given the clarity of the law and the fact that all of the counties have certified their results ...

2. If they try it

Would be useless. Biden still has the Electoral votes. Those 2 would be massively ignorant to pull a stunt in a state that Biden won by 150,000 votes!

3. Leaning toward audit, delay

BY CELINE CASTRONUOVO - 11/19/20 08:39 PM EST

One of the two Republicans on the four-member Michigan Board of State Canvassers on Thursday said he is leaning toward calling for a delay in the certification of the state’s election results until an official audit has been completed ...

Shinkle reportedly cited among his concerns a since-debunked claim from President Trump and his allies that Dominion Voting Systems, the Colorado-based manufacturer of voting machines, deleted thousands of votes that had been cast in favor of the president ...

Shinkle has faced scrutiny after his wife, Mary Shinkle, filed an affidavit supporting a since-withdrawn federal lawsuit by the Trump campaign ...

or was caught and reverted. You never know with these lying thieves. And they are so brazen, so stupid or both that they will try to make the votes look legal. Just thinking creatively, but don't doubt they'd do it, either.

And doesn’t care about their fate might in either the long or short term happens to be. Plan A is to find a path to win the election. Plan B (Putin’s and the more likely scenario) is to sow distrust in our institutions and to keep up the infighting in this country.

Everyone and Everything are simply pawns to be used to further those goals.

11. Like any mob boss

Like any mafia Don, Hair Twitler never says anything outright.

"So I really need you two to look carefully at the voting in your state. Lots of people are saying there was massive fraud there. So you really need to take some time and go over every ballot in that state.

"On a side note, I want to wish the best to your daughter Cynthia, who lives at 55 Mockingbird Lane in Baroda. And to both her young children, and their father, John, who goes to work in a 2018 Audi every day around 8:30 a.m. at the coffee shop in town. It would be horrible to see anything bad happen to that lovely young family."

14. Hold it! If it's a felony for public officials to be bribed, then encourage them to visit Trump.

In fact, let's encourage all Republicans to visit Trump for their "tastes". It could make for a Grand Old Prosecution. Should be textbook.
