Thank you Mr Lebowski!!! your post just inspired me

In another op Mr Lebowski made a post statement that just floored me. I had not thought about this, so giving credit where credit is due.. We do have a way to fight the 70% of the walking dead .. the brainwashed of the republican party.. those that would feed their kids poisoned Kool aid because their fearless leader told them too (ref: Jonestown)..

Re-instate the Fairness Doctrine President Biden.. It may be the only way we bring them back .. detox their minds so they cannot just stew in lies till it becomes their only reality

4. You are aware that the FD won't apply to cable, satellite or internet

aren't you?
It would have zero effect on Fux Noose, NewsMax or OAN as they don't broadcast over the air, they're on cable, which the FCC has no authority to regulate their content.

freedom of speech and all that including the crazies but sites that claim to be news, have been held to a higher standard before (which by the way, the republicans were the ones who originally insisted on the Fairness Doctrine) Other places will no longer carry the mantle of news.. they will be entertainment sites.. and have the respect from most that entertainment sites to..

Currently the lowest priced basic cable package in most cases carries only Fox.

cable, satellite or the internet, so, barring a change in the law, and I doubt the SC would uphold such a law, then that idea, while noble, is DRT.

What I'd like to see is mandated real-time fact-checking, with like a lie-meter on the screen for all shows not registered as 'fiction' from the outset.

Computer AI is probably at the point (or close to it) that it could perform this task reasonably reliably.

I don't believe it would stand up to scrutiny from the courts, cable, satellite and internet you have to pay for these services, but over the air broadcast stations are free.

If you don't want to watch what's on those 3 venues, you have the choice to not purchase their services.

We have no talent, probably because our side doesn’t pay very well.

I tried to listen to air America when it was on. It was damned painful. Some conservative wag nailed it when he said “they made al Franken the one thing I didn’t thing it was possible for him to be. Unfunny”

Personal crushes aside on people like Rachel Maddow, Amy Goodman, or Keith Olberman, the radio talent that gravitates to their side is more glib, more opportunistic, definitely more ruthless, than anyone on our side.

REALITY in any way.

Our side isn't naturally inclined to spin wild confabulations and present them as fact.

Not our nature.

It is a disadvantage in that milieu.

which has problems as pointed out in previous posts.

They have got to do something about ownership. Start enforcing the Sherman Anti-Trust act, in fact, strengthen it.

Every industry is worsened by the lack of diverse owners. Monopolies and oligopolies are not in the public interest, particularly when unregulated.

The fact that 5-6 giant corporations own and control 99% of everything the public sees, hears, and reads is the problem. Liberals can speak all we want, but if it does not get broadcast it doesn't help.

With that said, you are right that if the public could hear something besides nonstop variations of rightwing messaging, we wouldn't be in this mess. But the corporations own the outlets.
