(6,477 posts)Note: the death penalty is considered as bad as abortion in contemporary Catholic doctrine. Anyone who tells you otherwise is lying, or is essentially a Protestant.

(4,723 posts)who uphold the death penalty, like they do for Biden supporting women's right to control their own bodies?

Just wondering if it is only Democrats who get this treatment. Perhaps there are.

(6,477 posts)They are protest-ants.
They are not acting in accord with Catholic doctrine, period.

(16,090 posts)that's exactly what any one of them would do.
It's more of a "kill them when they're bigger" movement.

(11,730 posts)Not abortion but choice, with basically means keeping religion out of a legal issue. They are deciding whether Biden, a practicing Catholic, should be able to receive Communion, arguably the most important Sacrament to a Catholic.
Have they said anything about Coney-Barrett basically voting to kill a person? Because along with abortion, Catholics should be against the Death Penalty.

(45,806 posts)16 year old Lisa Rene was kidnapped, sexually assaulted for 2 days, bludgeoned, gagged & dragged into a grave, where she was doused in gas & buried alive. She died of asphyxiation in the grave.
I would have voted the same as she did. Although I'm old now, I can still imagine what this girl went through. He deserves the sentence he got!

(85,987 posts)...it's not self-defense, nor is it about public safety or deterrence.
What you're angling toward is revenge, which may be justifiable in many minds, but is cold-blooded murder, nonetheless.

(45,806 posts)has the death penlty and it is ordered by a jury, then we should carry it out. For all that oppose the DPm they need to get the Congress to make it unlawful.
Submariner
(12,503 posts)raped her, and then buried her ALIVE, his killing was way overdue. A family member should have been allowed to bury him alive many years ago.
Coney B is a curse for decades to come.

(43,049 posts)moral/ethical position. Abortion was non-negotiable.
This distinction means little to non-Catholics, but means that Catholic justices have no obligation to be against capital punishment. And before deriding the concept of "negotiable" moral positions, think about the almost infinite such things we deal with in our daily lives.
