election was stolen after all the law suits have been thrown out even by judges Trump appointed?
They even believe that Fidel Castro and Hugo Chavez came back from the dead and rigged the election?
This goes beyond a cult it is mass insanity.

Once he is no longer in control after January 20, the GOP could very well collapse.

(1,307 posts)The Cult of Trump, and it is fascinating and does finally give me some understanding about his cult members. How they got to where they are. I think they were seriously flawed in the first place, so it was a short step to the cult, and insanity is another short step. They are imploding.

(35,295 posts)because they have no evidence. They claim they have seen all kinds of evidence saw videos, read about it and
they will claim they heard it on CNN or read a NYT article. They always claim they heard stuff on CNN or read it
in the newspaper because they know we won't believe anything from Faux, Newsmax and OAN. You wouldn't believe the
videos they claim to have seen of Joe Biden and children, it is insane. I told one the other day there was a video of
Lindsey Graham saying Joe Biden is the most decent person he has ever met, he claimed it was faked.

(22,236 posts)but if they start running around acting like they think the election was fair, then they lose all credibility as a bonafide Trump supporter. As long as Trump stands for racism and hatred, the trumpsters will continue to act like they believe everything he says. Maybe some of the most ignorant of them really think the election was stolen, but I would have to think most of them know damn well it wasn't. For the ones who know it wasn't stolen, they will continue to put on a big loud act just to keep stirring their shit up.

Ms. Toad
(33,992 posts)While we weren't out rioting in the streets, we were certainly making allegations that the election was stolen and - although we didn't suggest Hugo Chavez was behind it, we were alleging foreign rigging of the voting machines using descriptions that are strikingly similar to the ones Sidney Powell used.
And you'll find similar theories posted ahead of every election since 2000. I've been challenging voting machine conspiracy theories for as long as I've been on DU. There are two signficant differences: It's the Republicans now saying the same thing we've been saying for years - AND - our leaders never encouraged them by touting them or bringing lawsuits based on them.
doc03
(35,295 posts)was Comey coming out with Hillary's e-mails a few days before the election yet he sat on evidence of Trump's connection with Russia.
But Al Gore and Hillary Clinton weren't making those claims about the election being rigged even before the election. I've seen crazy stuff on here like the Bush administration letting or making 911 happen. GWB being on cocaine, GBW having a gay relationship with
a news reporter. But I don't think 80% of the Democratic party believed any of that.
Ms. Toad
(33,992 posts)we should clean up our own house. The allegations as to vote rigging, on our side, weren't being made by the leaders of the party (part of the point I made). They WERE being made before the election - and after - and they are virtually identical to the allegations being made by Sidney Powell: Some nation-wide scheme to add a few votes here and there - just enough to give the win to Bush/Romney/Trump/McCain. Voting machines owned by foreign/Republican entities.
Those reports hung on long after the election was finished.
Yes - Russia interfered with the election, but it was garden variety espionage/disinformation. They also changed registration/eligiility to vote laws to disenfranchise Democrats, and changed early voting hours to cut down the pews to the polls efforts. What they didn't engage in was ballot box stuffing/vote shifting/etc. - but you can see discussion of those schemes (especially the vote shifting) in the run-up to every election since 2000 - and long after the dust has settled when we've lost.
Here's an article from 2006. It should sound pretty similar to the Sidney Powell wild schemes. My father relayed this story to me - passed on to him from some highly educated people who were absolutely convinced it was true. they knew someone who knew someone who was in on it.
albacore
(2,398 posts)..spread over pivotal districts in 3 pivotal states gave trump the EC.
That's hardly in the same league as the present election and the wild paranoia about vote rigging.
We DO have to clean up our elections and make them transparent.
Ms. Toad
(33,992 posts)there is a lot of paranoia - on both sides now.
That may lead to a rational exploration of what needs to be done that has not been possible up until now when is was all our side with wild conspiracy theories.
There are software errors - I have yet to meet code that is perfect. But these are not programmed for vote shifting (for Republicans or Democrats). Althogh I'm a bit out of date with the new machines, I am intimately familar with many of the voting machines that were used in the presidential elections between 2000 and 2016.

Paper ballot. Paper trail.
How hard would that be for the "stupid states" to install?
Ms. Toad
(33,992 posts)who want hand counted paper ballots - on the theory that the tabulators that read you ballot are also under the control of the evil empire. (Essentially the claim now being made by Sidney Powell.)
Both sides claims as to this matter ignore the rest of the checks and balances built into the system, the fact that "the country" doesn't have a single voting system. I'll stop before my blood pressure gets too high.
