This is an excellent article about Michigan law. Trump is going to lose. I see no path for any significant delay much less a 'win'.

(68,555 posts)he lost has made me nervous and afraid. I try to reassure myself by researching laws in affected state and hoping the law holds...so far so good.

(25,259 posts)We had a similar case in Texas, BEFORE the election.
Via proclamation, our governor added a week to early voting (state law only allows two weeks) allowed handing in of mail ballots during early voting early voting (state law only allows election day)
Allen West and Texas GOP sued citing the Texas constitution. They lost. They filed their suit like a week before early voting started. TX Supreme Court dismissed case. One reason for dismissal was the filing date.

(34,066 posts)You can't immunize statutes from it is constitutional review merely by imposing a time limit (as PA tried to do).
BUT - at least one of the plaintiffs actively encouraged voters to vote by mail . . . so it is unlikely that a remedy for the statute being unconstitutional would be to declare invalid the votes the candidate encouraged. Disenfranchisement is a much more significant harm than violation of a state constitution that might be open to multiple interpretations.
