November 22, 2020
By David Edwards
Michael Steel, a Republican spokesperson for Dominion Voting Systems, on Sunday knocked down allegations that the company participated in a scheme to steal the election from President Donald Trump.
While appearing on Fox News, Steel was asked about claims made by Trump campaign lawyer Sidney Powell, who has promised a biblical lawsuit to challenge the outcome of the 2020 election. She has suggested that Dominion officials bribed elected Republicans in the state of Georgia in a conspiracy to make Joe Biden president.
No, this is a non-partisan American company, Steel told Fox News host Eric Shawn on Sunday. It is not physically possible for our machines to switch votes from one candidate to the other.
There is no way such a massive fraud could have taken place, he said. And there are no connections between our company and Venezuela, Germany, Barcelona, Katmandu whatever the latest conspiracy theory is.

(64,425 posts)What the heck is that supposed to mean?
He's a spokesperson for the company. He's not a Republican spokesperson.
His political preference has nothing to do with either anything he said, or his job as spokesperson.
They could have at least used a second comma. (Michael Steel, a republican, as spokesperson...). Then it would emphasize it wasn't a partisan opinion.
Either his being an R is irrelevant or it's sloppy writing.
It's Rawstory, so either is possible.

(143,999 posts)The concpet tht Powell has a kraken to be unleashed is silly. Accordting to the RWNJ trump supporters, an idiot and bad attorney named Sidney Powell (Michael Flynn's current attorney) has a massive amount evidence that she calls the Kraken that will be released. According to the low IQ RWNJ, the Kraken will give trump a second term with a 100 milion votes.

The Dominion official went on to explain that electronic vote tallies can be audited with a paper trail.
If any electronic interference had taken place, the tally reportedly electronically would not match the printed ballots, Steel said. And in every case where weve looked at in Georgia, all across the country the printed ballots, the gold standard in election security, has matched the electronic tally.

(33,915 posts)The process:
Each voter enters votes on a touch-screen machine, which also produces a paper ballot.
The voter inspects it to verify its accuracy, then gives it to a pollworker who locks it away. (It's not clear to me whether the vote is cast directly via the touch screen or the paper ballot read
In GA (and other places) when the paper ballots (verified by each voter as accurate) were later hand-counted - they matched - in most cases exactly - the machine tally. For the entire state.
