Thousands of UW staff and faculty have written an open letter to the people of Wisconsin. This could be an open letter to anyone, no matter where they live. I hope it has an impact.
Sometimes you have to have hard conversations with family.
Inside our hospitals, we have patients gasping for breath, needing a ventilator to survive and too often dying. Many of them were walking around healthy just days before. Some tell us they didnt think COVID-19 was serious. Others say they just wanted to live their lives and get back to normal.
Outside our hospitals, we still see big gatherings with no masks. We hear about Thanksgiving dinner plans that will send even more people to our already very full COVID-19 units units full of patients who might not survive a fight with this virus.

(539 posts)I've been watching the local news in a few areas of WI (we're in the Madison area and it's getting good coverage). Nothing in northern WI yet (where much of our family resides). Messages like this (no matter who pens them) need to be blasted far and wide.

(2,958 posts)A pleasant surprise to see. Looking out for their staff. My folks are in assisted living in Madison, so Thanksgiving will consist of a Zoom call.

(539 posts)I hope your family stays healthy.
Our Thanksgiving is going to be Zoom with several family members, then another call later with a few friends.
Take care
