You cant count on good weather in Western Washington in late November......
(5 years or so we had a storm on Thanksgiving day and the electricity went out just as the turkey needed about another half hour. It sat in the oven and cooked.)

I have always either traveled to them (or vice versa) or gathered with local friends for the holidays.

This year, I will have Thanksgiving at home, just me - and the cat. I can be in touch with them online or in phone calls and that is good enough. I will have traditional food for myself and all the contact I need, from a distance. It will be the same for Christmas.

The idea is to survive long enough to be together next year when it will be safely possible.

I’m refusing to participate in pretty much anything, but hear:

“We have to live our life.”

“A little party never hurt anyone.”

“It’s perfectly safe because we’ll be six feet away from other tables.” (Never mind we’re dining with people we don’t live with.)
