Gun-toting congresswoman-elect may carry Glock at Capitol

A firearms-toting congresswoman-elect who owns a gun-themed restaurant in Rifle, Colorado, has already asked Capitol Police about carrying her weapon on Capitol grounds, her office has acknowledged. If she does so, she apparently won't be alone.

I expect they will get themselves into trouble before long with those. I can imagine they will be welcome on committees. They will, probably, end up threatening other House members and then they will be shut down.

3. Great. My mind immediately went to Charles Sumner and Preston Brooks

In 1856 a pro-slavery representative from South Carolina, Preston Brooks, attacked and beat abolitionist Massachusetts senator Charles Sumner nearly to death with a cane.

(Marjorie Taylor Greene, Q-GA)

I'm going to look into buying a button or something that simply says "Hey, I didn't vote for her!". I figure it'll save a lot of needless conversation.

6. Yes, why does this nutjob need a gun in Congress?

The Capitol Police aren't enough protection for her?

I sure wouldn't want to a member of Congress and know that someone in the room could go off at anytime.

She may have to get the law changed and I don't think that is going to happen.

In any case, she is just being an ass, like other people who open carry. It says, "Hey, look at me, I have a gun." It reminds me of when I was a kid in the late 50s. All of the boys and some of the girls had Roy Rogers, or Gene Autry cap guns, but most of us grew out of it.

I tell people who open carry, that it is like wearing a sign that says, "Shoot me first."

An untrained individual whose primary job is not the safety and security of the Capitol is carrying around a firearm. What stops anyone who has gone through the metal detectors that has business in the Capitol from taking the weapon away from the Representative and using it?

11. Well, that just shows an amazing lack of trust for her fellow Congress members.

It also points to attention whore tendencies and a desire to stir the pot for its own sake. Good luck with that.
