If they see an opportunity to score 'points', regardless how it hurts the country or blowbacks on them, they'll take it. No one ever said republicans were smart, patriotic or sensible.

Besides I don't see all the Republicans voting against people of this stature. Collins, Murkoski and Romney might be counted on to vote to confirm least they look like hypocrites.

the people he's chosen so far are the A-Team by any standard - and I'm not aware that the GOPers had strong objections to any of them in the past.

Ordinarily, newly elected Presidents are entitled to a “honeymoon period” in which the Senate is, generally speaking, cooperative and deferential. The Senate in late January 2021 may decide, instead, to be as obstructionist as possible.

Only time will tell.

If we don’t win them, we might be kissing his. Those seats are really important right now, obviously.

Actually, a friend of mine and I took a walk this morning and she mentioned that Romney, Collins, Murkowsky, and even Sasse might flex some muscles to force McConnell to take up some legislation that might actually improve our lives. I don't think they will sit idly by and allow Turtle Man to shut everything down completely.

Let's hope for both things to happen.

In this hyper partisan “I’m gonna block you at every turn. I’m gonna prove government is broken. Just watch me break it” environment? I wouldn’t be so sure. They didn’t even pretend they were blocking Merrick Garland because of his qualifications. They just weren’t gonna even hold a vote on Obama’s pick. They did this at every level with Obama’s judges. McConnell is already laying the groundwork for the same kind of interference on the cabinet level. They don’t care if the nominee/candidate is qualified.
