Until today, I was opposed to a 2nd Impeachment Inquiry...

But now, after the announcement of the US withdrawal from the Open Skies treaty, and the destruction of the surveillance planes, I think Pelosi should indeed hold quick hearings before Christmas to impeach Trump once again, and put the GOP senate on the spot to uphold national security.

Regardless, of whether that happens, the Biden DOJ must prosecute those who carried out those unlawful orders (the law requires consultation with congress 4 months before withdrawal from the treaty) in withdrawing from the treaty and destroying the planes.

The withdrawal from Open Skies could give Putin Carte Blanche to move on Eastern Europe before the US and NATO put their pants on.

They did not say that
Rather they pointed out that we have a runoff election we need to deal with and if we want to have a fighting chance at saving the country from the corruption of the Republican party then we need to win both of the seats.
Otherwise the Republicans will simply do whatever they can to hamstring Biden from doing what he needs to do to fix what the Republicans broke.

I missed that one. on edit: just researched it, Okay, never knew much about that agreement. Trump is such a low life idiot letting Miller fuck up our country and its worldwide relations like this. Not to mention national security.

This was not a "gift" to Putin. It was abject obeisance to Putin. Between now and one week after inauguration day, I expect Putin to invade at least one country, probably Ukraine, possibly Belarus, and conceivably even the Baltic states.

23. So Biden can't simply reverse the decision on January 20
Tue Nov 24, 2020, 01:27 AM
Nov 2020

The treaty only allows specific, approved aircraft to be used in the flyovers, so they couldn’t be quickly replaced by other surveillance planes, and the modern upgraded versions were cancelled this summer by Esper.

So, even if Biden tries to resurrect the program, there would be enough delay getting back on line that Putin could pull all sorts of fascist mischief.
