That's a dodge and that's the Lincoln Project in a nutshell.

I always got the feeling he would be back to his party once this was over.

He was the Chairman of the party after all, so there was no way he suddenly would embrace the Democratic policies. In fact, several times he said he was looking forward to getting back to sparring with Democrats on policy issues.

I'm confident that some of the other Lincoln Project folks will be more friendly, and I hope I'm not wrong.

wouldn't even come out and say that he was voting for Joe Biden! IN fact, he almost hinted that he would be writing in another name. Then, maybe 2 weeks prior to the election, he made this grand announcement that he was NOW part of the Lincoln Project, and enthusiastically endorsing Joe. You could practically hear the trumpets in the background! And now, the inevitable retreat.

This guy has always been slippery and sleazy. I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him.

In the memorable words of Rick Wilson - 'The Republican Party was fucking Alderaan; There's no planet there anymore'

Micheal Steele has not. Has said on many occasions 'he's not there yet', and may never be.

Other than opposing and disposing of Trump enablers and collaborators, the Lincoln Project's priorities are voting rights, civil rights, ethics, and accountability - in other words, functioning democracy - the very thing that should/will burn the Republican Party to the ground.
