it seems like all the warnings are about Thanksgiving family gatherings and travel. Why? We know it will be just as bad if not worse by Christmas, New Year 2021, etc. Is this due to not wanting to depress too many people even more?

(4,483 posts)are actually away at school, and how many are having distance learning. I would think that travel at these times when college campuses pretty much close down--Christmas more so than Thanksgiving--would be largely driven by college students getting home.

(15,800 posts)Shorter term by removing the typical fall break and starting earlier. They have from T-day to January to be away from campus.
I have one on that schedule. The other kids undergrad university also did that schedule.

Yeah, it will probably be even worse by Christmas.

(15,499 posts)I'll be alone for both holidays. I agree with you that it will probably be worse by Christmas due to the Thanksgiving people who still aren't taking it seriously.
