Peak of third COVID-19 wave still weeks away

The skyrocketing number of new coronavirus infections in the United States is likely to climb further over the next several weeks, even in the hardest-hit areas where soaring case loads are starting to overwhelm hospitals and medical facilities.

New cases appear to be reaching a peak in the Dakotas and Iowa, where infections are at their highest levels since the pandemic began. But most states experiencing a COVID-19 surge are weeks behind those epicenters as tens of thousands of people test positive every week.

“It’s starting to plateau in relatively few locations, but it’s giving us a sense that many areas could continue to experience this into January,” said David Rubin, a physician who runs the PolicyLab at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. “This is a hard period.”

A January peak would put the height of the coronavirus pandemic around the time of President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration on Jan. 20.

Only the President and the Chief Justice need be present.

We don't want a repeat of William Henry Harrison.

As long as it's going to happen - might as well get some good out of it.

At the White House, empty all the people out, open all the windows, crank the heat up to the max, and let it air out before moving in February 1.

10 days should be enough to kill all the virus.

Them spray it for SARS-COV-2 from top to bottom, and de-lice every place that Trump and his sycophants went into.

I live in Tahoe and people are flocking here for the opening of ski resorts and Thanksgiving

ALL the vacation rentals in the neighborhood are FULL (more so than even in summer)

The fucking stores are packed...I had to get kitty kibbble today and was cringing and even extra covering myself with my sleeve and walking fast through the groups of tourists...

This is so ridiculous....How the FUCK will any of this get enforced or stopped?

and while we are at it...how about some more extra+unemployment?

I didn't go to the beach or anything this year because the crowds were crazy...

I dont understand how these people dont get it!?

Also, the cities are so densely populated, they think that they are more "spread out" up here I guess

what really sucks? we literally have LESS than 100 beds for a 20K population (that's locals) only 7 ICU beds...

American public about the power of wearing a mask. I believe that Joe can wear his mask better, I sometimes see a good part of his nose showing and him not fully using his nose clip. BUT, the message that Biden is sending is dramatically different that what Trump has done, I believe that and Magats seeing family suffer from COVID19 will allow us to get ahead of the virus, FINALLY!!! Biden will have to message around and past Trump, but him and his team seem to already be aware of that.
