BY JORDAN WILLIAMS - 11/24/20 07:35 AM EST
A majority of Republicans surveyed in a new poll -- 54 percent -- said they would vote for President Trump in 2024.
The Morning Consult-Politico Poll released Tuesday found that 12 percent of GOP voters said they would choose Vice President Mike Pence in the 2024 primary instead, while 8 percent said they would vote for the presidents son, Donald Trump Jr.
In addition, 68 percent of Republicans voters said they consider President Trump to be more in touch with the GOP's rank and file, compared to 20 percent who said the same of congressional Republicans.
In addition, 71 percent said they considered the president to be more effective than Republicans on Capitol Hill, and an equal percentage said they considered him committed to the U.S.s best interest.

We have been gaslighted and lied to for four years, with no check at all against it. That ends on January 20, 2021 at 12 noon ET.

(58,785 posts)The strongman they really want, and who could draw the dissident left for a potential majority, would be very dangerous.
There's a lot of admiration among Republicans for Viktor Orban, who's smashed Hungary's democracy and is replacing it with a far-right Christian nationalist dictatorship. Their legislators recently gave him the power to rule by decree and made it illegal to spread falsehoods, like calling him a dictator on social media.
American admirers, all over RW media, blow that last off, refuse to know or acknowledge, and see Orban as a force for good, just the kind of leader America needs. What they hoped Trump would be.
Notably, like so many archconservatives, Orban started on the far left as a young man and still talks the talk that appeals to them very well.
A formula for a successor and success here as well.

(6,265 posts)their favourite song those old "cotton fields" back home. And if trump demanded a fascist salute from them they would march down Pennsylvania Ave with arm outstretched. All that chump has shown us and the world, Putin specifically, is that a sizable minority of American voter wanted a dictator instead of a POTUS.
The upside is now our eyes are open. What we do with this insight is a problem that our new President-elect and vice-President-elect are going to have to deal with. But the Senate and McConnell the nazi-racist first.
