Is anyone else beginning, just a little, to relax...?

...for over four years now, every time I wake up, I turn on the TV or go on-line with this horrible combination of nausea and dread. What fresh hell is happening today? How much worse will it get--*today*? It's beginning to sink in that those days are over. At least, for now. Our national crisis is not over. The forces of fascism have had a check, but remain powerful. We have only won a reprieve. But it *is* a reprieve, and for the next four years, at least, sane people will be running the government. Yes, there's Moscow Mitch; yes, there's our illegitimate so-called Supreme Court. All the same...I'm starting to relax a bit now when I turn on the news...and the relief of not having that burden, all the time, is beyond description...

over the last 4 years. At least competent people ate being chosen to help with that task. It seems that most of the world has been waiting for this day, as well.

Ruth Ben-Ghiat's new book Strongmen about fascism and autocrats, and I could see how these people just keep circulating and coming back (Berlusconi was the person I was reading about).

We really need our own playbook to defeat anti-democratic tendencies rising around the world. They will slowly drown Western Civilization if we don't figure this out and drive them to the fringes.

I’ll relax the day Trump and his hate-filled enablers (vile spawn included) are dead and buried.. both literally and figuratively speaking

I don’t mean to make light but you better hope you live a long time if you want to see Tiffany and Barron buried. With the screen name “agingdem” that might be a bit unrealistic.

when I think of Trump's spawn I think "The Boys From Brazil"...my parents were Holocaust survivors...Auschwitz alums...no room for sentiment here...and as for my screen name, not to worry, my children and grandchildren, hurt the most by the trump klan, will lay witness to trump and his spawn's demise...

I am a very tiny bit more relaxed, but I still have that constant knot in my stomach and a feeling of pending doom hanging over my head. I have, however, been watching far less news and that has helped some.

I don't think there will be a particular moment when the cloud lifts, not even Inauguration Day. There are so many obstacles ahead of us and damage to repair. I think the process will be a gradual one, but I'm doubtful we'll ever be the same again.

Republicons, Putin, Moscow Mitch, MAGAts . . .

They're not going away. They will continue to attack, destroy and undermine. Now the media will be turn its focus on Biden. So they will do their dirty work and sabotage with less attention on them to expose it.

the transition was formally being allowed to begin, I knew that was as close as trump was going to get to a concession, but that was enough for me to allow myself to believe it was finally real - trump was done and would not be able to steal this election. A little bit of hope flickered to life.

I slept 9 hours straight, which is saying something for me.

Now, I dread seeing which part of the functional federal government he'll wreck next.

TRMS last night, detailing the "liquidation" of the planes that support the Open Skies Treaty that he withdrew from without consulting Congress pissed me right the fuck off.

but still very wary. I am looking forward to the Inauguration like never before. It'll mean the EC crap is done. I'm starting to shift over to Food Bank stuff.

But, the Holidays coming up are going to be dredged of every pleasure available. I am SO very proud of how the country reacted to the call of All Hands Onboard. Trump got his ass kicked! Gonna celebrate this like nobody's business.
