The Aragonez family feels that theyre just like other families navigating the COVID-19 pandemic. They strictly followed the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention precautions, but after eight months, they ignored one rule and gathered in someones house. Now, theyre sharing their story in the hopes that others wont make the same mistake.
After an impromptu birthday party, 15 members of the Aragonez family tested positive for COVID-19, with Aragonezs mother spending seven days in the hospital. The family recorded a video hoping that their experience with a family get-together would show how easily the coronavirus spreads.
A birthday party leads to numerous COVID-19 cases
Everyone in the family was careful to take the coronavirus restrictions seriously and wore masks and avoided going to bars or restaurants and skipped church services. Thats why, in part, they thought it would be safe to attend a birthday party.

(15,805 posts)and his wife. They both have significant pre-existing conditions, my brother has a heart defibrillator and is on oxygen. They are driving out of state to have Thanksgiving with their son and his family.
The son works at a university, his kids attend public schools, and no one wears masks or uses social distancing. No one is getting tested. They will be together for 3 days and plan on going shopping as well.
I've tried to talk them out of going, but they are convinced they will be safe and even if they do get infected Corid is not big deal as the news reports. Yes, everyone is a Trumper. I don't understand the blaise attitude to a deadly disease, but I've said my piece to no avail and there is nothing more I can do but worry about them all.

(171,036 posts)Maybe they need to be reminded of the 260K and counting deaths in the US. How people can think covid is not a big deal is beyond me. WHY do they think the news is reporting this then? I don't get it.
