All those who are complaining about missing Thanksgiving

are probably the same people who jump up from their family to go to a Midnight "Black Friday" sale. And have no sympathy that it means thousand of workers must leave their family to work on Thanksgiving.

Since so many lack creativity, they are lost in finding anything but “tradition” which sometimes means, I don’t want to put any thought into anything different.

Where I come from the men are tasked with hunting and smoking the holiday turkeys and preparing the sides. I just do the pumpkin pecan pies and wine drinking, and I’m fine with that!

And, a sweet potato casserole.
I'm making a cranberry, white wine, lemon sauce with a butter & flour roux. Just a fancy gravy, I suppose.
I like the seasoning & presentation part. That's the part she likes the least.
Works out ok!

Some stores start up at 6pm on thanksgiving day.

Disgusting. As a former victim of retail, i will never shop on a holiday.

If not, you're not complaining, you're just disappointed COVID has gotten in the way. Probably the vast majority feels that way.
But, if someone is whining about restrictions, but having a gathering anyway, they're just complaining to complain.
Unlike you (and this is our own responsibility) we don't have much family we really want to spend much time with.
All 4 parents are gone, so no tradition to uphold.
The only family we'd likely see are recovering from COVID. No decision to make there!
I think most people are like you, who miss those in their family and the virus is a bummer.
That seems perfectly reasonable.

merely complaining and yet no, I am not having gathering, and I do not do black Friday.

I do not like spending money or shopping, so participate very little in the buying frenzy. Mostly sing Christmas carols while waking dog and putting outdoor lights up. Having done every holiday and Bday for two decades, I am so thrilled, happy and good with not having them anymore. I mostly only want my two boys.

I was interpreting, in order to answer your post.
We used to do Christmas every year. Mom & dad did Eve, we did the day, but a sort of open house.
Finger food & ouer d'oeuvres (fancy ones, too) so people could stop in for 60-90 minutes & visit someone else.
Parents usually stayed the whole time.
But, we don't do that anymore, and we definitely wouldn't this year.
A "that was then" situation, I guess.

This of course doesn't apply to the people who have canceled their usual holiday get togethers due to Covid. The people loudly complaining are the Covidiots. It really sucks how their selfishness and recklessness has caused so much pain to those of us doing the right thing. They're ignoring all the safety guidelines and doing what they want no matter how dangerous.

I never got the appeal of Black Friday. When I was a kid in the eighties I'd see the footage from inside these stores. I asked mom if these people were missing the whole point of the holiday and she agreed. It was awful seeing people act like animals for material goods. All the fist fights, stampedes and destruction. Whatever savings you might get just isn't worth it. I always felt sorry for the poor retail employees that had to work that day. Some have even died due to people's greed and selfishness.
