You don't want to hang out with Trump deplorables, and turns out, no one else does either

Whiny-ass sore-loser Donald Trump has a legit super power—both times he’s run, he’s turned out voters that haven't shown up for any other election, and didn’t even show up in the polls. Remember, polling was perfectly fine in 2018, and Democrats swept races in 2017, 2018, and 2019. They even won governorships in blood-red Kentucky and Louisiana!

Yet both 2016 and 2020 saw the emergence of a massive wave of white voters that polling totally missed. In fact, despite suffering some defections among suburban Republicans, Trump still managed to get 10 million more votes in 2020 than he did in 2016! So I came up with a theory: the Hidden Deplorables.

The outline goes like this:

The hidden deplorables aren’t Republican. They aren’t even conservative. They’re apolitical, otherwise ignoring politics, because their lives legitimately suck. They live in meth country, with dim job prospects (in fact, those two factors are highly correlated). Institutions have failed them—corporations abandoned them for cheaper labor overseas, government feels distant, and it’s certainly not improving their lives. Cities feel like walled gardens—unattainable, unaffordable, yet that’s where all the jobs are, the culture, the action. These deplorables have been left behind. So their attitude? “Fuck them all.”

Absolutely correct in rural Arkansas. 35 miles from Little Rock, 35 miles from Conway, about 40 miles from Hot Springs.

My tiny violin for those poor, mistreated souls? Sorry, but sitting around doing meth waiting on someone to fix you?

I understand hard luck and misfortune as well as any one. Been there, done that. Giving a hand up has saved many but still God helps those who help themselves. No magic Politician is going to do it all.

What's really going on is there seems to be a conflict between low-density populated rural areas vs high-density urban areas living a completely different lifestyle. They want to run the entire country as if its rural, not taking consideration things like excitement, education and diversity. I don't think they're too happy when people say they're moving to big cities for a better life. I have family members who still live small rural towns and they resent those who moved away.

Now the jobs are long gone and not coming back like trump promised but they still keep voting for the party that screwed them.

Too bad. That same party also continually cuts education budgets so they don't learn critical thinking skills to figure out who's screwing them.

I just laugh and feel sorry for those that still haven't escaped.

Whole family left there in the 80's, I am an inner city guy now since.

I know enough and the person I hate most is over 2500 miles away, and that is perfectly beautiful!

in the city's with there big media(heck out here you can't get local TV about 35 miles away and mountains in the way), in Unions (no unions in rural America). You know cities have new fangled things call "Newspapers", no such animal here. Cities have colleges and medical centers and high rents and good pay. We can get by for a lot less money. That is why people move to the rural areas and get stuck here. We have fantastic 2 meg "Broadband" because the cities took the stimulus money.

The Trumpers are here because the Democratic Party gave up and left. Oh I should not say left, as the local officials are all Dem, but vote for Trump.

See I know things could change and they changed when Win Rockefeller(R) came in and through the KKK and others out. The first Republican governor since reconstruction.

As Carville used to say, “it’s the economy stupid.” Or something to that effect.

whatever instead of trying to loose. You know Tom Cotton had a Democratic challenger, but when the time ran out for registration for the position of U.S. Senator, he dropped out of the race. That left Cotton and an unknown Liberterian.

I wonder what would have happened if the election had not been thrown.
