Teed off after teeing off! Trump loses it during Thanksgiving Day round of golf, blasting 'I hate this f*****g hole' as he shanks his ball into the water
Donald Trump spent his Thanksgiving morning losing his cool on the golf course, with the outgoing president filmed swearing as he shanked his ball off the tee and into the drink.
The commander-in-chief cut a frustrated figure as he indulged in a pre-dinner round of 18 at the Trump National Golf Club in Sterling, Virginia, on Thursday.
In video footage, Trump is seen working on his form with a series of quick practise swings, but the warm-up appeared to do little to help his cause, with the president heard grumbling Oh s**t as he made contact with the ball seconds later.
The 74-year-old hit his ball into the lake in front of him, falling a fair way short of the green.
I hate this f***ing hole, Trump is heard blasting as he watches the ball disappear beneath the surface of the water.

(21,998 posts)When a golfer plays a course repeatedly, there are a couple of things that develop.
First, the player learns (usually subconsciously) how to use their personal swing to move around the course. This means that if you tend to fade or slice the ball to the right, you'll consistently aim to the left to counteract your swing flaw. Interestingly, this means that a mediocre golfer can actually score reasonably well because they know the course and how to avoid their mistakes. It also tends to mean that when the player goes to another course, they won't play as well because they won't always know how their flaws will fare on the different terrain.
Second, Trump's reaction to his water ball is entirely normal! Nearly every course that I've played repeatedly has one or two holes that vex me either because of the shape of the hole or the hazards or other difficulties present. For example, one course I played for years has a tee shot that has to go through a chute of trees then over water for about 150 yards to a fairway that is very narrow and not visible from the tee box. If you go right, you're in the pond and left will find the woods. It's a 340-yard par 4 and in spite of playing the course a couple of hundred times, I've never scored better than bogey. I hate that fucking hole!
Regardless, Trump is an ass and an idiot. It will be so refreshing when he's no longer president.

(26,251 posts)As I understand it, he cheats at golf, too, but that's hard to do with a press corps following you!
(And, even though I've never golfed and really don't know much about it, I'm sure people 'lie' about their scores, all the time. It's just so fun to see his self perception of near perfection being documented as him being anything but.)

(21,998 posts)You're right: Amateur golfers lie about their scores all the time. It's somewhat annoying but you learn to live with it.
Early in my golfing life, my guru at the time told me there are two ways to play golf. One, follow the rules strictly and unmercifully, just as do the pros. Count every stroke and take every penalty earned. Alternatively, don't keep score and just have fun in a beautiful park with your friends. Hit balls. Enjoy the scenery. Have a beer.
Trump, of course, wants it both ways. His cheating at golf has been documented repeatedly and even though you're not a golfer, I highly recommend Sports Illustrated's Rick Riley's book, "Commander-in-Cheat." It's at once entertaining and infuriating!
Once, when Trump was called on his cheating, he replied, "I've cheated on my wives. I've cheated on my taxes. Of course I cheat at golf!"
Asshole.
