(5,819 posts)and one guy was bare-chested as well. Kind of a strange sight in late November, but it got up around 60 degrees here in Maryland.

(20,144 posts)Granted,, it doesn't get super cold in Houston most of the time, but still. He wears his baggy shorts and a golf or Hawaiian shirt every day, and he's a CPA that see's clients!

(32,582 posts)I love the irony here, but it's wasted on the low-information people. They won't get the message until they see the mobile mortuaries and body bags piling up.

(14,887 posts)I do have a long sleeve, 100% cotton cardigan with a hood that occasionally I pretend is a winter coat. Does that count?

(22,231 posts)out my "dressy" winter coat once or twice a year (if an extremly cold day also falls on a Sunday)
Found a really neat plush hooded jacket with embroidery up the lapels at Greater Good. It is the perfect weight, and looks good with anything

(14,887 posts)weather wusses on So Cal. When the temperature goes down to 45, we think it is freezing. If we are lucky we will get about 10 days of 40 degree weather. Then I can wear my hoodie zipped up. Spoiled rotten we are.

(23,947 posts)...people start wearing shorts as soon as it is above freezing. Ive lived in San Antonio, TX, where people break out their parkas when the temp dips to 55 degrees.
My time in San Antonio arose as the result of joining the Air Force nurse corps. I had grown up in Rochester, NY, and found the humid heat of San Antonio unbearable. I remember leaving my apartment one September morning on the way to the base, and is was 62 degrees - it felt GREAT to my northern soul. I laughed out loud when the radio guy said, Well, folks, better bundle up. Its a little nippy this morning. Nippy? Nippy at 62 degrees?
Nippy involves frost.

(30,540 posts)not because I'm afraid of hypothermia, probably most people wear them for the same reason. Coats keep a person from shaking and shivering keeping you warm and comfortable, they serve their purpose.

(300 posts)In my area when people drag out their heavy coats prematurely, they're sometimes asked "What will you do when it really gets cold?" I saw a guy in earlier November wearing shorts and flip-flops; it wasn't warm, either. I consider myself to dress appropriately for the season, but can handle most of winter in a heavy lined hooded sweatshirt...
