BREAKING: Trump team allocates initial vaccines to states based on population.
This hurts states with higher needs eg, more at risk medical, older & BIPOC populations. CDC to recommend allocation approaches but states will decide how to allocate.

Operation Warp Speed is allocating the first batch of 6.4 million COVID vaccines to states, based on population. This circumvents a CDC advisory committee, which proposed allocation based on risk.

(1,750 posts)2. Well, at least it won't be going to only red states...
...since population density favors places like NY and CA (and of course some red states like TX and FL). Does anyone know why health care providers aren't prioritized? I hope that is just an omission in the NPR story.

(15,246 posts)3. I know in PA, the Dept of Health working
together with the governor's office has a vaccination plan in place. They were just waiting to find out the number of doses they'd be allocated to implement it.
I'm ok with distribution by population as long as the state has a plan in place on how it will distribute the vaccine.
