is because he knows that the Democrats would balk at prosecuting him because they don't want the US to look like a banana republic where opposition political leaders are prosecuted and jailed.
It gives him an immunity.
I think the Democrats should not take the bait and let the states handle it.

(1,522 posts)besides an ego stroke, he has legions of dumbass followers who will keep giving to his superpac which will be the greatest DJTrump through life fund.
There is more money in running for President than being president.

(16,993 posts)I think he believed he was going to win and never gave all those debts coming due a thought. Now hes in panic mode trying to figure out where all that money is going to come from.

(8,445 posts)I think he's also going to be scrambling for money just to live on, besides his debt. He's got an expensive lifestyle.
Side note: How pissed are those cities that the campaign owes money to now that they know it had to pay Wisconsin $3M for the recount? I'd like to hear their response to that.

(63,221 posts)I don't think Dems are going to have a problem attempting to prosecute him. The man is a criminal and has done everything within his power to undermine our Democracy. He needs to get what is coming to him.

spigot is running dry because he can't deliver the goods.

(3,485 posts)Not the least of which is that he can actually win again. The whole thing may have started as a joke but its deadly serious now. He also wants to maintain control over the party. Its his party now, lock, stock and barrel and he can make or break these people with a single tweet. Its also a good source of income for him, he can leverage this power into even more money. And its now about revenge, theres nothing this guy loves more than vengeance.
We better prosecute this asshole or hes never going away. If he gets away with all hes done, were going to regret it terribly.

Not following up on Trump's crimes is what will make the US not only look like, but BE a banana republic.
Are you aware of how dismally low the world's respect for the US is at the moment? It's like this great big fluffy toy, bristling with guns and hubris. Wracked by a virus that's easier to ignore that attempt to contain.
The last of the US's worries is being considered a Banana Republic by prosecuting Trump. Wake up, kiddo.

(2,336 posts)He'll never actually run but doesn't stop him from pretending (he's always been a pretend president, why change now?). This allows him to continue fund raising and the way he's structured his fund raising appeals, he actually does get to keep and spend the $ as he sees fit -- doesn't seem legal, but I guess so long as you explain the partial truth in the fine print it satisfies the law.
