Were looking at all options, McConnell told PBS NewsHour anchor and managing editor Judy Woodruff, including a more narrow measure if Congress cant pass the broader, $1 trillion plan Senate Republicans floated this week.
The GOP proposal would reduce extra unemployment benefits for Americans who lost their jobs due to COVID-19. Congress included the additional $600 a week payments in a relief package passed in March, but those benefits expire at the end of the month.

(53 posts)If we all havent learned yet, the currency is simple public monopoly and what we call the national debt is nothing more than the net-savings of the economy. There is no national debt crisis and the currency issuing federal government can never go broke. Congress job is to worry about full employment and price stability by using the power of the purse for public purpose. They should worry about the real economy and real outcomes and target those, and let the economy optimize the size of the deficit, instead of using the government to put a bag over the heads of businesses and workers. Austerity is a crime against humanity.

(7,430 posts)GOPers act like it's THEIR MONEY!
It's not. It's OUR MONEY!
And if it's "we" who want to borrow more money to get us through this mess, then so be it.
But GOPers don't want us to have any more money when we can't be at our jobs. So they know what they're doing, don't they? They're giving more problems to Biden, intentionally. There are millions of people who are watching this and their sentiments toward the GOP are getting hardened. They are so terrified of Trump that, even as a lame duck president, his tweets could mean the ending of careers.
It's entirely necessary for Trump to be immediately prosecuted as soon as Biden is sworn in. He's an extremely loose cannon and he'll undermine the Constitution whenever possible. The DOJ and other jurisdictions must pounce on him fast. If Biden wants his base to stay with him, restoring faith in government, this time around, means showing that justice is served, and that no one is above the law. It means that Trumpy-Boy must face multiple allegations, indictments, and trials beginning in early 2021.

Pelosi is holding out for 2.2 trillion, the same figure as before. Turtle Man is pushing 1 trillion, and just read those between the line threats! If he doesn't get his way, he's going to offer less! If he doesn't get what HIS SIDE ONLY wants, he'll hurt millions of people, because, by G-d, he wants what he wants!
Cold hearted, cruel, and callous...that's Mitch! Take your salary, your house, your wife and family, and shove them all up your miserable ass, you f*cker!
