Does Mike Pence have plans for a political future?

Would he like to run for President in 2024?

Or maybe run for Governor of Indiana again?

If he does have any plans for a future in politics, there is one act that he must guard against.

He cannot pardon Donald Trump. That would likely destroy any hopes of a political comeback.

So, what are we talking about? The thought that Trump might resign before January 20? I don't think that's going to happen.

6. Didn't he say it was 'in God's plan (admittedly, I'm not sure WHICH God) that he be POTUS?

Of course, that's the line people like Pence always take to convince themselves of something. When they lose, you never hear them admit THAT may actually have been the plan.

He really is at the heart of Mr Trump's mass appeal; and the crowds at Trump's fall rallies have been sending an obvious signal to Pence that he must run for our top office

Christian wing nut maybe? I mean during the HIV crisis Indiana was last in the nation in its response. He was a barker for the tobacco industry who convinced people that smoking was safe. With that background Trump picked him to lead the Coronovirus task force.

Yes, he plays to the religious right but he’s so fatally boring. And he’ll forever be associated with the most corrupt administration in US history.

If he has political aspirations, his best best might be to settle in a small western red state with lots of evangelicals. He could possibly become governor or Senator there. Maybe become a cowboy in the Reagan/Baby Bush tradition. A fly eating cowpoke. Or maybe he dresses all in black leather and becomes the embodiment of the Evangelical Gangster.

Has to be a religious/political radio show out there for him at the very least.

13. I doubt Pence could win even in Indiana, let alone a national election.

Pence was not terribly popular in Indiana when he was Governor and I doubt that has changed much since then. Cannot imagine that 4 years of watching him follow tRump around like some sort of fawning little spaniel will have done anything to improve voter impressions. Pence was too far into the radically fundy scene to ever run in a GOP Presidential primary with much success, and his elevation to tRump's VP was absolutely a calculated move.

His involvement in the COVID taskforce hasn't helped him either. (Truth be told, I've always quietly mused that putting him in charge of that task force was maybe one way to limit Pence's ability to ever attempt to run for anything ever again...)

I think Pence may be one of the few associated with this administration who actually will mostly vanish into obscurity once the new folks take over.
