A number of us have either tested positive ourselves or had a close contact that has tested positive. I think it would be useful to all of us, hopefully, to share what symptoms you or your household member had at the time of testing.
If you would be so kind, I think if we listed ages as well as whether or not a fever was present in our posts, that could be helpful too.
Respiratory symptoms = trouble breathing, coughing, sneezing, congestion, runny nose, sore throat, sinus pain, etc.
GI symptoms = vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, etc.
Neurological = headache, muscle/body/joint pain, confusion, delirium, memory loss, loss of taste/smell. Loss of taste/smell is the most common reported neurological symptom and one of the most prevalent symptoms of COVID and will be included in many of the polling options.
"Atypical" = covid toes, skin rash, cardiac, blood clots, other (describe in post)

(28,303 posts)you're probably grateful it wasn't worse, but dealing with any illness for what must feel like forever is awful, especially when you can't know when it will end.
No loss of taste/smell huh?

(2,113 posts)My symptoms were mild and only lasted about 3-4 days. I was one of the lucky ones. I'm a 56 yr old female in overall good health. No comorbidities.
My husband, also 56 and in good health, was completely asymptomatic. Very, very lucky.
My mother was 85 yrs old and had lung cancer. She passed right before Thanksgiving after 12 days in the hospital. She had just started low dose chemo. My brother thought she was dehydrated so he took her to the emergency room. She was admitted with severe dehydration and pneumonia. We learned the next day her COVID test was positive. It was a constant struggle to keep her blood oxygen level up. One of the oddest effects of COVID was that it made her blood sugar spike - so much, in fact, that the hospital had to give her an insulin shot. She did not have diabetes and was barely eating, so it wasn't dietary. First 9 days were kind of mild; some good days, some bad. Then it hit like a freight train. She refused to go on a ventilator so they put her on a BiPAP, which was basically breathing for her. She had a DNR order so when she started pulling the breathing hoses off, they had to walk the fine line of trying to keep her alive without dishonoring her wishes.
Sorry for rambling on. Please, please, please everyone, be careful.
