"Plives"?-Santorum Explains: what sounded like “black people” was actually the garbled word "plives"

Santorum’s latest explanation is that what sounded like “black people” was actually the garbled word “plives”:

Rick Santorum said Monday that comments he made last week in Iowa about food stamps that some construed as racially charged were the result of his having been tongue-tied and were not a reference to black people.

Moreover, he said he has done more in black communities “than any Republican in recent memory.”
He maintains that he did not say “black” people’s lives but rather stumbled verbally when he was trying to say “people’s lives” and uttered a short syllable that came out as “plives.”

Rick, shut up. We all heard it. Either apologize or just shut up about it. Stop digging. You sound even stupider.

On second thought, never mind. Keep talking, Rick.

"plives"?!? "black" sounds exactly like "plives", can't everyone see that?

I don't think he intended to say "black people's". Blah is more in keeping with the rest of his campaign; brillig in the slithy toves.

Usually the first line of defense is deflection and spin, followed by groveling when the first line of defenses is breached.

Looks like Ricky will stick to the spin in this case. He's all-in on it at this point.

knows Santorum is pandering to racists. At least I think so. This was his quote today on Morning Joe.

“Coming out of Iowa, Santorum lost a little juice.”

Accidental choice of words? I don't think so.

...I'd like to see 'damage control' consist of the politician-in-question saying "You know what? That was absolutely uncalled-for and I was a douche (choose yer own term) for saying it. I apologize for doing so and it won't happen again".

Cuts right to the chase, and that's all the 'damage control' you need...you don't need to keep patching it or making up ridiculous words like 'plive' or 'macaca'.
