The inauguration of Abraham Lincoln on March 4,1861, was filled with irony. The federal government was on guard against insurrection and possible assassination attempt on Lincoln. Cannons, primed and loaded, lined Pennsylvania Avenue, and rooftop sharpshooters scoured the crowd of well-wishers below as the presidential party made its way eastward to the United States Capitol. Chief Justice Roger B. Taney, author of the infamous Dred Scott decision—a decision condemned by Lincoln as an attack upon the Constitution—stood before the president-elect, Bible in hand, to administer the oath of office. Lincoln appeared calm throughout the proceedings. His inaugural address, a prolonged call for appeasement, seemed to surrender every point of difference on slavery except for the expansion of slavery. He had many pressing matters before him, not the least of which was establishing his cabinet and administration.

7. No. Their coup failed. I call it a failed coup because there is no...

believable reason for the Capitol's security to be so lax. It's not like the Capitol Police don't have years of institutional experience in how to prepare security for big events with thousands of people streaming into town.

There is the State of the Union every year where all the heavy hitters of all three branches of government are in the Capitol building and have to be protected. There is an inauguration every four years. There are multiple demonstrations in DC every year. There are visits from heads of state quite frequently. They know how to do it.

They just didn't do it yesterday. WHY?

People are not fools. Something is up as it's reported that the insurrectionists knew exactly where and how to find where the EC vote containers were. Luckily one of the Reps' staffers grabbed them up and took them with them into the unknown, secure locations they were taken too.
