have so many citizens been able to correctly define :
se·di·tion
/səˈdiSH(ə n/
noun
conduct or speech inciting people to rebel against the authority of a state or monarch.
The exact statute:
18 U.S. Code § 2384 - Seditious conspiracy
U.S. Code
Notes
If two or more persons in any State or Territory, or in any place subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, conspire to overthrow, put down, or to destroy by force the Government of the United States, or to levy war against them, or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, they shall each be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than twenty years, or both.

(2,580 posts)of the Capitol riot could not fit the statute any better:
"...or to oppose by force the authority thereof, or by force to prevent, hinder, or delay the execution of any law of the United States, or by force to seize, take, or possess any property of the United States contrary to the authority thereof, ..."

(13,084 posts)I propose that the minimum sentence is 20 yrs probation.
If they participate at all in another attempt to overthrow the government. Done.
All that even entered the Capital. Jail time + probation.
Those that incited need to own the entire debacle.

(18,486 posts)They're starting off with the no-brainer, easy-to-do charges. More serious charges like sedition require more investigation and information in order to ensure a solid case - that takes time. They probably also want to be give Trump as little opportunity as possible to pardon anyone for a serious charge.

(38,419 posts)I seem to remember that 2 or more persons were involved in that conspiracy...Is that correct?
U.S. population growth since the Civil War, I'll stand by my estimation of "so many citizens been able to correctly define".
