Does anyone else feel like they are releasing trauma?
I feel like it's going to take a little time.

1. Absolutely
Although I'm surprised at how quickly I'm adjusting mentally. But my body is still traumatized. It'll be awhile before all the stress, trauma and anxiety built up over the last four years is released.

13. The coming days look different, don't they?
Trump is/was oppressive. Many, or most of us lived with chronic, subclinical rage. It wasn't irritation, or frustration, or mere anger. It was rage.

6. Post Trump Stress Disorder
I'm semi-seriously considering making a Facebook group with this name to capture anecdotal data.

16. That is a good one. Has to be added to psych manuals!
If you make the FB group, be prepared to be inundated.

3. Immediately a great weight has been lifted....but the bruising of the last four years will take...
...more time to heal. But now there is hope!

4. Absolutely. The relief is palpable.
I was telling a friend earlier that it will be such a relief to wake up in the mornings WITHOUT having the added burden of knowing a dysfunctional, dangerous man is at the helm of the nation.
Until now, I wasn't quite aware of just what a toll it was taking on me, day after day, week after week, month after month. Life feels a lot better now. |

But trauma takes time to heal, and takes work.

8. Yes, but I feel like it's going to be a process.
There will be ups and downs. Luckily, we have each other to help us get through. However, we now have hope, which is the most important thing. Just think about how awful things would be if he had won. I could not even imagine the state of despair I would be in right now.

10. The Saturday after the election was really cleansing and great relief of stress.
I felt so great after a 15 minute cathartic laugh over some stupid unrelated meme. Best laugh I had in years.
But then the stress built up again over these past several weeks. I was lucky to have had some vacation time scheduled, so I had like 18 days off in a row and I mostly buried myself in housework and cleaning my basement. So therapeutic. The lasting damage will be with some of my extended family relationships. Sucks. |

11. Yes
Since a little before the election I have been dealing with the trifecta of what triggered my original PTSD: natural disaster, binding family turmoil, and violent mob mentality within a relatively short span.
I’ve been aware, and stepped back taking in how to effect things positively. I’ve been here listening on DU. We’ve been through a lot. Not everyone reacts bodily the way that I do, and I just had to stop and only do the essentials of taking care of my household and my grandmother. Still haven’t properly mourned RBG’s passing. I’m trying to look up and out more fully. Today was a good day and I gotta believe we can stand up in the stream of difficulties before us. Mr. tRump is no longer in power. |

17. Me and two besties
Been speaking about it for the last 24 hrs.
Been getting “so happy” texts. Feels good to smile for no reason. Feels good to have Biden finally. I want 10#s of flesh outta these insurrectionists and conviction at the impeachment trial and my healing will be complete. |

20. Thanks for this thread
The Capitol riots were especially triggering. I think nuch of the country is suffering from PTSD in varying degrees from the past four years. May everyone heal over time.
