Economic Impact Payment card
I didn't think it looked official but now I see it says it contains the money you are receiving from the US Treasury!
It's not a check like the last time and I just saved it in case it was something real. I had a lot going on at the time.
TY for your post! I've been wondering where the heck my check is.
Why would they make it so complicated like this?!
Grasswire2
(13,565 posts)My sister almost did that to hers. She thought it looked like a scam.
Cha
(297,074 posts)a scam.. I'm so glad I saved it.. it was in the closet. lol
I read the ways you can get the money.. and as I understand it.. it says you can take it to the bank and they will give you the money.
Do you know if that's right? TY!

(527 posts)There is a line asking if you received it. It will be added to your refund or subtracted from what you owe.

(7,275 posts)and most of my neighbors who are also Seniors on SS. But a neighbor of mine, who has put off filing for his SS, was collecting unemployment which ran out, and so he was expecting his check in the mail. But it hasn't arrived. He checked IRS website, and there's some sort of message that mentions will receive on filing return. Or something to that effect.

(16,950 posts)Lots of other good suggestions here, but that may be one, too. It's put through on your tax return when you file, it seems. There was a thread about that here a couple days ago.

(892 posts)When I checked the Get My Payment site, my husband was supposed to have had his direct-deposited on January 6th. It never showed up.
We havent seen any sign of stimulus money.

(10,146 posts)Never got the first one so will claim that on my 2020 taxes. But the people who really need it would much rather have the money now. So would I but its not as big a deal for me.

(7,947 posts)I found this article about it, and there are links to the IRS instructions, but you might try this! File your 2020 taxes early:
If you think the IRS owes you stimulus money, you can use a recovery rebate worksheet to calculate how much you should receive and claim that amount on Line 30 of Form 1040 and Form 1040-SR. The IRS will include your stimulus payments as part of your refund check. Even if you don't earn enough money to typically file a return, you will need to submit one this year to receive your allotted payment. https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/recovery-rebate-credit
The IRS opened Free File, free online tax preparation software, in January for taxpayers who earn less than $72,000 to prepare and file their income tax returns, although they will not begin processing returns until Feb 12. https://www.irs.gov/filing/free-file-do-your-federal-taxes-for-free
For 2021, eligible taxpayers who did not receive the full amount can claim it as the Recovery Rebate Credit when they file their 2020 tax return, the IRS said. Use IRS Free File to file and claim this important benefit.

(2,343 posts)I dont know why, but it was incredibly fast. It was via direct deposit. Maybe that had something to do with it.
Cha
(297,074 posts)So I went on the IRS site on Monday & it said mine was mailed Jan 6th.
Looks like it got lost in the mail! I'll give it a few more days & then go to the link that says it deals with mailed but not received it yet.. & track it down.
I hope you find resolution.

(297,074 posts)it already thanks to your thread!
It came in the form of a Debit card & from Omaha.. I didn't think it looked official & I tossed it aside but kept it!
Turns out it's real.. haven't gotten any Economic Empact Cards from Omaha, NE, have you?

(295 posts)Ours came as a debit card. I first thought is was some sort of scam and was on the verge of shedding it when I saw a news item about some people getting a debit card rather than a check or direct deposit.

Cha
(297,074 posts)I just retrieved the paper with the Debit card attached out of my closet right now.. thanks to this thread.
I had no idea that was my money. Didn't have time to read it then but I saved it. Thank Goodness!
Why did they have to make it so complicated for some this time.. ?!

(1,475 posts)received the second stimulus $600 by check in early January. I did not. I check the IRS website every day. Same message "not enough info or not eligible".

(65,169 posts)Mine originally went to a closed account. Feels more like a relief after all that waiting. I hope I can change my deposit info for the expected 3rd stimulus.
Hope you get yours soon. If calling the IRS doesnt work, you should file your taxes and claim the recovery rebate credit.

(23,968 posts)...names on it for a whopping $220.55. Seeing as you cant divide 55 by 2, my husband very generously decided I get the extra penny.

(14,961 posts)I received mine($600.00) a couple weeks ago. Back then people that filed with Turbotax had an issue. (I use H and R block) and got both fairly fast. But I know a ton of people that have had issues for different reasons.

(21,748 posts)The link to the FAQ is right there. Go to the FAQ and first check if you are eligible... The requirements are listed. If you are, the FAQ will tell you to either fill out a form and send it in or call a number. I called the number and they told me all checks should be recieved by Feb. 20th. If yku don't get it by then, check back to the site again for status. Not sure what will happen in that case.
