His background as a corporate raider will be completely toxic. It will kill him as a candidate.

Bill Clinton threw his hat in the ring when GHW Bush was considered "safe" as a consequence of the Gulf War.

Stuff happens. Some crazy event can knock the earth off its axis with unpredictable results.

Maybe if this election gets stolen the Democrats will finally speak up (I can dream). Though I would bet it won't be quite so obvious this time.

and I am beginning to despair ... These conservatives are such liars and people actually believe them. Someone give me some hope that there is still a silent majority out there that will not fall for the lies and the hate-filled speeches ....

because they know of no reason to cease, much less that they are having any effect upon others.

Dangerous because they are un-self-regulated.

I put his chances at 40%. This is not a well-informed country.

If Europe's recession catches hold here, we could be in real trouble.

Romney is certainly one of them. Check out what they are saying. They are more optimistic about November than you might think.

Obama sailed in 2008 for three reasons:

1) It was a big Democratic year after two terms of Bush
2) He was a blank slate
3) His opponent was a has-been who wasn't really willing to take the gloves off

This time, it's not going to be as big a Democratic year, he's no longer a blank slate, and while his opponent isn't going to exactly be beloved by the right, he's not a has-been and might be persuaded to take the gloves off.
