This morning a question popped into my mind. If anyone has mentioned it here on DU I havent seen it. Wondering what would happen if your initial shot is with one brand of vaccine and the clinic, pharmacy or wherever you received it was resupplied with another brand before your second shot? Getting an appointment seems pretty hit or miss here in central Ohio so I was curious what would happen if that did happen.

(149,517 posts)They will try to find out what might happen if you get two different vaccines. They just started this and the results will take at least a year.
So we don't know if there might be any difference if you get one of each vaccine. You will get a card that is issued by the CDC and which vaccine you get will be written on that card, along with the date, the place where you got it and like that. You need to bring the card to your second app't. I think wherever you get the vaccine will try to give you the same one that you got the first time.

Our county is using Pfizer's vax.
One local medical provider, Kaiser, is using Moderna.
It's about who you have contracted with to supply you.
Most entities will only have one supplier.

(41,103 posts)with the county health dept. Feb. 4 and they said I will receive an email in weeks with info. how to set up the date and place for the 1st shot.
Soon after I read that commercial Pharmacies will begin receiving vaccine doses around Feb. 11 as part of a Biden initiative.
I plan to call a couple Pharmacies about availability, and if I can go with that it's better for me.

(2,208 posts)And did not receive any verification or instruction at all. I did register with our local Meijer store and Drug Mart. I also tried Kroger all across Cbus and no available appointments. CVS, Walgreen, and Ohio Health are all saying you must be 70-even if today starts the 65 age group. I hope you find a pharmacy that can give you your jab! Probably easier to get to than a county location.
