(32,828 posts)I have a McCain type gop friend in Conroe Tx, northeast of Houston. She repeated that line to me Tuesday afternoon...."Wait a minute I have photos of you (and her late husband) in a certain Scottish Golf Course with windmills in the North Sea in the background. "Debbie(fake)It is a lot colder there then in Texas. Is there a problem with poor maintenance? This was before it was known that was a factor.
All Ican do is keep telling her the truth.

(14,847 posts)while they continue to work everywhere else when it gets cold?
Also, you might remind her that the Pukes have controlled every statewide office and project in Texas for decades, and that includes their fucked-up power grid.

(42,643 posts)The QMAGAt is almost 100% full of SHIT. Also, after those figures are introduced, THEN I would also bring up the fact that windmills in a myriad number of VASTLY colder climes function just fine, plus the Rethugs run Texas, and they are the assholes who set up the separate, deregulated power grid that has positively fucked Texas.

It hurts them to admit that what they are being told is bullshit, so they keep deluding themselves, safe and warm in a bubble made of ignorance.

(36,227 posts)It was natural gas, mostly, that failed in TX. Mostly, though, it was TX-style deregulation.

(3,523 posts)Isn't it awful what's happening in Texas and nobody is helping them. Well I knew what he meant by that. It was dig against Biden.
I said that was not true because Abbot, their governor, called Biden for help first thing and got help. AOC who is a Representative from New York raised $100,000,000 for them, so yes there people out there helping. He knows I am a democrat and a huge fan of Biden so there was complete silence on the other end. I got my point across.
I love my so son don't get wrong, but sometimes i could just scream at his stupidity. I just have to remember he's surrounded his wifè, her family, his neighbors and the morons he works with that love the orange idiot.
Thank God my other 3 kids love Biden. What's a mother to do?
Mariana
(14,847 posts)You may send it to your son, who will no doubt be relieved to learn that he was wrong, and the people of Texas are receiving federal help.

They've never had a problem running since they were built.

(28,202 posts)You might just mention to her that AOC has helped to raise $2 million in support of hard-pressed Texans. That's $2 million more than Ted Cruz, Greg Abbott or trump have contributed.

(11,690 posts)They should not be allowed to lie. OR they should have to run a disclaimer in a running kyron that says that the information presented is not factually accurate and has not been sourced.
There are too many ignorant people that are constantly being lied to. Unfortunately, like Fox Mulder, they want to believe.

(652 posts)and she thinks the governor is doing a good job. And she doesn't want "poor people" to get any more government handouts because it will raise her taxes.
The water problems were caused by a green energy company. The weather problem could not be helped because it was the first time this has happened in 120 years.
I suggested she get a DNA test to see if we are really related to one another.

(6,513 posts)Make it pretty clear that it wasnt any green energy that failed us; it was
failure of the oil and gas energy and failure transportation (unable to move antifreeze to sites.)
We had a weeks notice that the cold front was coming in. They had ample time to move trucks around on site to spray down the mechanicals.
Apparently about ? 10 years ago we had a similar cold snap (not as bad as this storm)
And I believe that we were told THEN that they were looking into spray equipment to be installed on the energy plant sites or whatever you call them.
Gov Abbott blathering on about how he is gonna get to the bottom of this...
Hes the one that appointed these jokers on the board of the Energy commission.
One lives in Canada and 2-3 live out of state.
What a clusterfuck of a government we have in Texas.
