in pro-Trump riotInvestigators have uncovered video appearing to show someone spraying a chemical irritant at Capitol Police Officer Brian D. Sicknick and other law enforcement personnel fending off rioters in last months attack, though they have yet to identify the person or tie the activity directly to Sicknicks death, according to people familiar with the matter.
Sicknicks death has vexed investigators exploring the Jan. 6 riot, as they have struggled to figure out how precisely he died and whether someone could be held criminally accountable in connection with the death.
Investigators determined Sicknick did not die of blunt force trauma, people familiar with the matter said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss an ongoing investigation. U.S. Capitol Police in a statement Jan. 8 said that Sicknick died due to injuries sustained while on duty. No autopsy or toxicology report has been made public, unusual seven weeks after a death.
Capitol Police said in a statement Friday the medical examiners report was not yet complete, adding, We are awaiting toxicology results and continue to work with other government agencies regarding the death investigation.

(50,557 posts)Many insecticides, like the one in that picture, are nerve agents. In the Army, we used bug spray to train people in chemical agent detection. Many Oath Keepers are former military, and they would have known this.
Trump has a lot to answer for.

(25,279 posts)I go through a lot of bug spray and it's nothing compared to pepper spray.
Bug spray can make me feel tingly and dizzy, but it's nothing compared bear spray.
That should be considered attempted murder.

(25,964 posts)or figured it was cheaper and easier to pick up the bug spray instead. Still, it shows the insurrection was far from spontaneous. People came prepared to force their way in, and to hurt anyone who stood in their way.
