Closing The Loopholes That Gave Us The Trump Administration....

I thought that after the Dems reclaimed the WH and control of the Senate & House - that they would move to close all the loopholes that Trump & the Repugs exploited over the last 4 yrs to destroy our government.

Instead I'm hearing about all the legislation being considered and passed around the country in Repug controlled States to further suppress votes, control elections and push this country closer to fascism.

Instead It looks like the Repugs are the ones that are doing the tweaking so they can create new loopholes in order to regain control and continue down the path to a fascist government.

I thought I'd feel much better now that Trump is no longer in the WH & Moscow Mitch is relegated to a minority role. I thought I'd sleep better and be less stressed.

However, now I feel even more stressed about the fragile situation we find ourselves in.

Anyone out there have the same nightmares as I?

No amount of negative polling or electoral loss will slow them down. We're facing a difficult, dark time and must commit to a strong response.

This is why grassroots actions are so important. We approved bi-partisan redistricting in Michigan, this is a crucial time.
Dan Kildee is my representative he has been warning us this is not the time for complacency, it’s time to get very active.

I wanted to say “time to fight” but in the light of current events...(slide whistle sound going down).

It's words and phrases like 'time to fight' and 'battleground states' that pit us against each other as well as the fact that elections seem to never end.

We just came through the 2020 Presidential Election and one would think we would get down to business and work to better this country - BUT - we're already focused on the 2022 Midterms and the 2024 Presidential Election.

I'm suffering from 'election fatigue'.

Just like 'never-ending perpetual war' we have to deal with 'never-ending elections'. As one cycle ends - we're already focused on the next election.

Our MSM seems to like to keep the tension up on a 24/7 continuous basis.

Sometimes I wish I was like many other Americans - naive and non-interested in politics and completely oblivious to all the machinations going on in the political arena - so I can just sit back and enjoy life.

Instead I'm addicted to following most everything political here on DU.

I'm sure that this is why my blood pressure and stress levels are up these days.

Alas, I cannot reach that faux nirvana. I was born with a natural unstoppable curiosity though.
Been actively engaged in politics one way or another since I burned my first draft card. Miss going to protests now a days but age settles your protesting spirit sometimes.

Don’t be afraid to take time away, reset your mind. I grow stuff, cannabis and vegetables I live in Michigan so pot is legal and have a heated garage and grow tents for both. Winter disturbs nothing.

Some things that stand in their way

Democratic governors in WI, MI and PA will not pass any ridiculous laws there

Some of the measures will take an amendment to state constitutions...that is really unlikely

And this

They are scum and will always show who and what they are, traitors to everyone who aren't reich wing haters. However, they aren't in charge - for which I am endlessly grateful. Things aren't nearly as good as they should be because of them, true, but THEY ARE NOT IN CHARGE AND AREN'T RUNNING THE SHOW!!!! This is a HUGE win, for without it social security and medicare would be dead. Drumpf had already said SS wasn't needed and tried to cut it during the pandemic but the House stopped that cold. Would the AG be investigating the repugs collusion on 1/5 by giving tours to the traitors - fuck no. Would over 200 people be arrested now - totally doubt it. Would the vaccines be distributed as well, would there be so much supply - hell no. Would the supply chain get protected - no, drumpf would profiteer off of it like he did PPE and vents. So yeah, things aren't good, but they could be so very much worse with orange hitler still squatting on his stolen throne.

it is a fragile existence and that could change in a heartbeat and we can be right back where we were before Jan 20, 2021.

We're watching that play out right before our eyes again at this CPAC Mtging or should I say TPAC and DJTJ coined it?

If they don't get shown to be traitors/seditionists we are in deep shit for the future.

I would think nailing down voter protection would be high on the to-do list after tackling Covid. I'm not hearing much talk except for the warning signs.
